Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt slams Thai organizer who called Mexican contestant ‘dumb’

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Noelia Voigt Hendrix – Miss USA herself! – is standing with Fátima Bosch, Miss Mexico! It’s amazing because that awful Nawat Itsaragrisil, the head of Miss Universe, totally humiliated Fátima, and now Noelia is publicly supporting her. It’s just…everything! I’m so glad someone with Noelia’s platform is speaking up for Fátima; it’s exactly what needs to happen!

Noelia Voigt, Miss USA 2023, publicly commended Bosch’s courage and expressed her shock and dismay regarding the recent incident in a detailed Instagram post on Wednesday.

She also directly confronted Nawat, criticizing him for fostering a situation where it became a matter of who to believe in the competition.

A viral video shows Nawat ordering security to remove Bosch from an event in Bangkok, Thailand, after she publicly stated he hadn’t treated her with respect as a woman.

In support of the 25-year-old beauty queen, many other contestants left the room with her in a large group, including Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who had just been crowned Miss Universe 2024.

I have a lot of respect for Thailand and its people, but I was very upset by the director’s disrespectful behavior – he insulted me by calling me unintelligent,” Bosch explained to reporters after the event.

Oh my gosh, the drama just exploded online! Everyone – seriously, hundreds of us fans and even people who used to be on the show – were immediately on her side. We were all so proud of her for finally speaking up and calling out that official. It was amazing to see!

Hendrix has become a strong public supporter of Bosch, sharing a statement on Instagram about what’s happening.

She publicly voiced her strong support for Fátima Bosch, Viktoria Kjær Theilvig, and all the women who protested yesterday after experiencing unfair treatment at the Miss Universe 2025 orientation in Thailand. She shared her statement with her 110,000 followers.

She continued, saying she was shocked, disgusted, disappointed, and horrified when she saw the video that was spreading online yesterday morning.

Having been Miss USA 2023 and then choosing to resign, I know what it’s like to have your opinions ignored and your self-respect undermined.

She explained that when she started entering pageants in 2017, Miss USA and Miss Universe represented a chance for women to become empowered and achieve amazing things.

What happened yesterday was completely different from the values I believe in and represent. I also don’t think it reflects the standards of the Miss Universe Organization or its leaders.

Hendrix strongly condemned the situation, calling it ‘deeply upsetting,’ and then addressed Nawat and those supporting him, after Nawat issued an apology.

The behavior of Nawat Itsaragrisil yesterday – publicly insulting Miss Universe Mexico, Fátima Bosch, threatening contestants with security and disqualification if they left, and forcing them to choose between enduring humiliation or facing punishment for leaving – was deeply inappropriate and unacceptable, as stated in a recent statement.

Nawat, and anyone who defends this behavior: an apology only after being exposed isn’t enough. When Rachel Gupta resigned and accused you of similar mistreatment, you publicly discredited her and created a situation where it was her word against yours. Now, everyone has seen how you treat people competing on your shows.

It’s easy to guess what you’ve said when you thought you were alone and wouldn’t face any consequences.

As a longtime supporter, I was deeply moved by Hendrix’s words. She perfectly captured what so many of us feel: a true platform for women must be built on humility, not power. It’s heartbreaking to see anyone in a leadership position use intimidation or their status to make others feel small. We need leaders who inspire and empower, not instill fear. And most importantly, everyone – especially those bravely representing their communities – deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. It’s simply non-negotiable.

Hendrix followed up by commending what she considers the real leaders within the Miss Universe Organization, after they publicly condemned the treatment of Bosch.

I also want to thank the leaders of the Miss Universe Organization—Raúl Rocha Cantú, Mario Búcaro, and Ronald Day—for quickly condemning the incident and restating their dedication to respect, dignity, and empowering women globally.

‘Thank you for taking a stand against this type of behavior.’

Hendrix then addressed a long statement to Bosch, praising her ‘strength’ and ‘bravery.’ She also acknowledged the contestants, including Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who showed their support for Bosch.

Fátima, thank you. Your courage and determination – especially your powerful statement, “Because I have a voice” – deeply moved me and helped me remember why I made the difficult decision to leave a harmful situation.

She wrote that his standing up for himself and other women was a historic moment, and that he was clearly a powerful and inspiring figure, recognized as such by the world.

To Viktoria, and to everyone who competed with her: you all raised the bar incredibly high.

Hendrix explained that simply standing up was a powerful statement, declaring, ‘We refuse to be silenced, shamed, treated as less than human, or disrespected.’

She inspired other women to be assertive like Bosch, calling self-advocacy ‘the most freeing thing you can do.’

She encouraged all women—whether they’re competing in pageants, pursuing ambitious careers, studying in challenging environments, working in tough industries, or just going about their daily lives—to speak up and not be afraid to share their thoughts.

For years, I always prioritized making others happy, even at my own expense. I worried that if I asserted my own needs or opinions, I’d miss out on chances or risk upsetting people.

Overcoming that fear, finding my voice, and standing up for myself was the most freeing thing I’ve ever done.

Hendrix criticized the repeating patterns that enable unqualified or arrogant individuals to gain power. He argued these cycles allow people who lack leadership skills or self-awareness to rise to positions of authority.

I just know they’ll keep going if we let them, if we just look the other way. It’s like, pretending they – and all the mess they cause – doesn’t even matter. But we’re here, and we’re not going to be quiet! I truly believe the truth will always, always surface eventually. It has to.

Speaking up for what you believe in, especially when it feels risky, requires real courage. The path of integrity isn’t usually the simplest one, but it’s always the most rewarding. True goodness isn’t about ease; it’s about having the bravery to do what’s right.

Hendrix expressed her hope that this event would be a turning point, not only in the world of pageants but also in any situation where women are expected to be silent, submissive, and thankful just to earn respect.

Hendrix spoke directly to Bosch again, sharing how proud she is of the pageant winner and all the women who support her.

She wrote that she hopes everyone realizes how impactful their position is – not just for themselves, but for the millions who are watching and finding strength because of them. Regardless of the competition’s result, she believes they’ve already succeeded by demonstrating strength, being genuine, and carrying themselves with dignity, all while making it seem easy.

In her final words from a long Instagram post, Hendrix emphasized the need for those in power to take responsibility and also sent a message of support to women who haven’t been given a platform to speak up.

To those in positions of authority, remember to treat everyone with basic human decency. And to all women, your perspectives are vital – the world needs to hear them. Real progress starts when we all stand up and say that injustice won’t be tolerated.

Thank you all for being here and for making your voices heard. Let’s continue to support each other. With love, respect, and confidence in our collective power, Noelia Voigt Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix’s recent comments follow a strong rebuke from Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha Cantú regarding Nawat. Cantú stated he won’t tolerate disrespect or a lack of dignity towards women.

During a TikTok livestream, Nawat apologized to Bosch and stated he’s collaborating with the Miss Universe team to resolve the issue.

The disagreement happened at the Miss Universe hotel during a pre-pageant event where delegates were being sashed. Nawat, a Miss Universe Organization executive for Asia and Oceania, questioned Bosch about why she hadn’t attended a photoshoot with a sponsor that morning.

The beauty queen, clearly upset, told the vice president she didn’t want to be scolded in front of the other contestants. He immediately cut her off, grabbing the microphone and repeatedly saying, ‘I didn’t give you the opportunity to talk… I’m still talking, listen!’

“I deserve to be heard,” Bosch stated firmly, in a video posted to the official Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page.

In some clips, it appeared that the executive repeatedly accused the woman of being a ‘dumb act’.

During the live-streamed event, the Vice President directly asked a simple question: ‘Can you help promote Thailand, yes or no?’

Nawat then instructed security to escort Bosch out of the hotel.

After what happened, I wanted everyone to know I wasn’t backing down. I told the press I was feeling really strong and determined, and I absolutely had things I needed to say. It just wasn’t right that the official was trying to blame me for issues within the organization – it was his responsibility, not mine, and I was determined to make that clear.

She stated that, as a woman in the 21st century, she wasn’t there to focus on appearances. Instead, she wanted to use her platform to advocate for the rights of women and girls who are working to make a difference.

To all the women watching, don’t let ambition or status come at the cost of your self-respect. If something makes you lose your dignity, it’s time to walk away.

When the beauty queen faced trouble, many of the other contestants jumped up, ready to leave the room in protest.

Nawat could be heard urgently calling for the models to ‘Stop, stop!’ as they started leaving the ceremony, and telling them to ‘Sit down’.

Last year, Theilvig made history as the first Danish woman to win the pageant, defeating Miss Nigeria at the competition held in Mexico City. She was among the contestants, including Miss Mexico, who left the ceremony in protest.

Twenty-one-year-old Theilvig explained her protest against the pageant organizers, stating it was a matter of women’s rights.

Talking badly about another woman is completely unacceptable, and I would never do that. That’s why I’m leaving now.

After what happened, Theilvig shared a photo of herself with Bosch on the Miss Universe stage and wrote a supportive message.

‘Forever proud of my @fatimaboschfdz,’ she wrote.

It’s not always simple to advocate for your own needs, but doing so is a powerful way to demonstrate self-respect and inner strength.

For me, it’s everything! It’s about finally realizing how amazing I am, and refusing to let anyone – anyone – dim my shine. It’s about knowing I deserve respect, saying ‘no’ when I need to, and protecting what makes me, me. It’s about owning my power and refusing to let anyone steal it!

It means recognizing your worth – that you deserve to share your thoughts, speak up, and chase your goals, no matter what challenges you face.

‘Enough is enough, and our voices will be heard loud and clear!’

Melissa Flores Godínez, the winner of Miss Universe Mexico 2023 held in El Salvador, used Instagram to publicly support Bosch.

Fátima Bosch has spoken out, not just for herself, but for all women who have faced unfair treatment in their work, families, or personal lives.

‘I applaud your courage, and I share your message.’

Influencers described the walkout as ‘the most empowering act in Miss Universe history’.

Some people criticized the Danish champion for not following proper etiquette and interfering with the official proceedings.

Some Thai fans came to Nawat’s defense, arguing that his words were either misinterpreted or didn’t accurately reflect the full situation.

The Miss Universe Organization announced that all planned events will go ahead as scheduled. They emphasized their commitment to hosting a remarkable competition that celebrates diversity, empowers women, and promotes inclusion – values that are central to the Miss Universe tradition.

President Rocha later issued a firm statement, condemning Nawat’s efforts to suppress and leave Bosch out of the conversation.

He expressed disappointment, stating that Nawat seems to have lost sight of what makes a good host.

For me, it’s all about showing everyone – every single delegate, from every nation – that he, as the host, has to go above and beyond for them. He’s completely dedicated to making sure they’re taken care of, helped with whatever they need, and fully supported throughout the whole thing. It’s his duty, and he needs to prove it!

I am deeply upset by Nawat’s public behavior towards Fátima Bosch. He humiliated and disrespected her, and his decision to call security to intimidate her was a serious abuse of power. I strongly condemn his actions.

The Miss Universe Organization, recently acquired by JKN Global Group from Thailand, has been receiving more criticism regarding how open it is and how it treats the women who compete.

Honestly, seeing what happened in Bangkok just confirmed everything I feared! People are saying – and I totally agree – that there’s this awful, really damaging pattern of public humiliation going on within the group. It’s like they thrive on tearing people down, and it’s heartbreaking to watch. It’s not just a mistake, it’s a culture of negativity, and it’s completely toxic!

Fans of the Miss Universe competition were upset to learn that the winner, Lina Luaces, had a surprising background in the entertainment industry.

The 22-year-old, who hails from Miami, Florida, was crowned as Miss Cuba 2025 in July.

Many people questioned Luaces’ victory after it came to light that she is the daughter of Univision personality Lili Estefan.

She comes from a musical family – her uncle is music producer and businessman Emilio Estefan, and her aunt is the renowned singer Gloria Estefan.

Lili, Gloria and Emilio were born in Cuba, while Luaces grew up in Miami.

Her mother is estimated to have a net worth of around $500 million.

Many people expressed their disappointment on the official Miss Universe Cuba Instagram page, with some suggesting the competition was unfair because the winner had connections within the industry.
