Former Mass Effect and Dragon Age Veteran Announces That His AAA Sci-Fi Project is on Hold Indefinitely
As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve witnessed the rise and fall of many promising projects in the gaming industry. The news about Worlds Untold hitting a roadblock is disheartening, to say the least. I remember the excitement that surrounded Mac Walters’ AAA sci-fi project when it was first announced.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of concern hearing about the current predicament facing two esteemed veterans from the Mass Effect universe. The news that Casey Hudson, once at the helm of Mass Effect, has closed down his studio, Humanoid Origin, leaves me wondering about the future of AAA sci-fi projects. Adding to this concern is the announcement from fellow ex-BioWare veteran, Mac Walters, that his studio, Worlds Untold, has put their game on hold indefinitely. The suspense is palpable as we eagerly await updates on these promising ventures.
As a gamer and a passionate member of the Worlds Untold community, I felt compelled to share some news that’s close to my heart. We’ve reached a point where we must take a break from our operations at Worlds Untold. This isn’t an easy choice; it’s been a deeply personal journey for all of us. We’re incredibly proud of the world we’ve collectively built, but to continue this journey, we need a partner who shares our vision and can help bring it to life. So, while we search for that perfect ally, Worlds Untold will be temporarily on hold. I want to express my gratitude to everyone involved in this incredible adventure, and I look forward to when we can all return to explore the uncharted realms together once more.
In simpler terms, Walters said that the team will be looking for fresh possibilities, and if anyone is currently recruiting, he can introduce them to some exceptional individuals he’s collaborated with in the past. He also expressed that while this moment is difficult for everyone, he is thankful for the backing of their partners, friends, and family, as well as the time they’ve spent together at Worlds Untold.
Walters mentions that although their project (funded by NetEase) is temporarily halted, it’s not a farewell – there are more updates to share when the moment is opportune. As for when the sci-fi game will recommence development, it’s hard to predict. They hope that Worlds Untold can secure a collaborator and get operations moving again in the future.
