Former Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan forced to cancel a string of shows after ‘spitting blood’ and undergoing surgery

Former Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan forced to cancel a string of shows after 'spitting blood' and undergoing surgery

As a die-hard fan who has followed Tom Meighan’s journey from the early days of Kasabian, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness and concern seeing him lying in a hospital bed with bandages around his lower face. The man who gave us hits like “Fire” and “Club Foot” is no stranger to battles, but this one seems particularly grueling. His recent health issues have forced him to cancel several shows, and it’s heartbreaking to see such a talented artist being held back by illness.

Previously known lead singer of Kasabian, Tom Meghian, has regrettably had to call off a series of performances following an incident where he began spitting blood. As a result, medical intervention through surgery was necessary.

43-year-old musician was dismissed from his band following his 2020 conviction for assaulting his current spouse, Vikki Ager. Since then, he’s embarked on a solo career.

Last week, Tom was scheduled to perform in Newcastle, but the event had to be called off at the advice of a physician. Similarly, a performance in Leeds was also postponed.

His upcoming games are scheduled for Manchester on Friday, Birmingham on Saturday, and Birdwell on Sunday, but it seems doubtful that these matches will take place.

In an update shared to Instagram, Tom laid in a hospital bed with bandages around his lower face.

The musician explained in the clip: ‘I had a f***ing abscess removed from my throat today. It was f***ing hell. It was literally a f***ing hell raiser. It was f***ing frightening.

‘Thankfully, that book is out of my life now and I’m managing. Hear me out: I’m making progress with exercise, trying to move more each day, but I just don’t have the energy for much else until tomorrow. Stay tuned for more.’

A recent announcement from last week stated: ‘Regrettably, tonight’s concert at Kentish Town Forum in London has been pushed back because of an illness.’

I’m sorry to say this, but unfortunately, Tom won’t be able to perform due to circumstances beyond his control. He’s battling a severe tooth and gum infection that requires him to take some time off to recover, which is quite rare for him as he’s only canceled two shows throughout his career.

The rescheduled performance will take place on the 14th of October. Your existing tickets will still be valid, so please hold onto them. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Lots of love, Xxx.

In the month of December, Tom, the ex-lead singer of Kasabian, opened for Noel Gallagher’s band, High Flying Birds, in Birmingham, even though some fans expressed disapproval.

In August of the previous year, Noel faced criticism from concertgoers who purchased tickets for his shows. Some diehard fans even threatened not to attend if Tom was the opening act.

The performance marked his second show on the High Flying Birds’ tour, following their appearance at the OVO Arena Wembley in London.

Regardless of challenges in his private sphere, Tom has found triumph in the music business, with six chart-topping albums and four top 10 singles under his band Kasabian.

A source told The Sun: ‘Noel taking on Tom is a big deal and it has got a lot of people talking.

Liam has an incredibly strong friendship with Serge, who publicly denounced his connection with Tom following the incident where he attacked Vicki.

Some people might interpret Noel bringing Tom into the project as possibly being seen as a slight against Liam.

While many fans haven’t taken kindly to it, some individuals have chosen to forgive Tom, moving forward instead.

‘Noel would have known there would be a backlash but he’s clearly standing his ground.’

TopMob contacted representatives for Noel and Tom for comment at the time.

On April 9, 2020, Tom admitted to assaulting Vikki in their backyard. The judge ordered community service for him, totaling 200 hours, following the court’s understanding that at the time, his girlfriend wished for his reconciliation.

Tom married his partner Vikki in 2021, one year after pleading guilty to attacking her.

In July 2021, the couple exchanged vows at Harbourgh Registry Office in Leicester. A statement was issued saying, “Over the past year, Tom has put in a lot of effort into himself, his wellbeing, family, and relationship with Vicki.

Before my upcoming court hearing, I took to our Facebook page to address some personal matters. Specifically, I announced that Tom has decided to step away from the band due to personal reasons. I also made it clear that we won’t be discussing this topic any further at this time.

Later on, they admitted that they felt compelled to make him depart and labeled the occurrence as completely intolerable. Additionally, they criticized him for being deceptive with the fans in his announcement.

After working diligently on their relationship, Tom Meighan and Vikki Ager officially became husband and wife on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021, at the Market Harborough Registry Office in Leicester. We are thrilled to announce this wonderful news!

The occasion was an intimate gathering, adhering to the current Covid-19 safety protocols. The couple exchanged vows, becoming husband and wife, in the presence of their children, relatives, and a select group of friends.

Over the past year, Tom has dedicated tremendous effort towards personal growth, focusing on his wellbeing, strengthening his family bonds, and nurturing his romantic relationship with Vicki. Their affection for each other runs deep, and they eagerly anticipate spending the remainder of their lives as a united couple.
