On February 26, 2025, Trachtenberg, recognized for her performances in series and movies such as Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Ice Princess, was discovered deceased by her mother at One Columbus Place, a 51-story luxury apartment building located in Manhattan’s Central Park South area.
Based on various reports, it appears that the actress received a liver transplant not long ago, and subsequently passed away due to natural causes.
Trachtenberg was found unconscious and unresponsive.
In simpler terms, the NYPD considers her death as not having any unusual or questionable aspects. They’ve given permission for a medical examiner to figure out what caused it instead.

Trachtenberg gained prominence for her acting roles on Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, two highly-acclaimed television series she appeared in primarily during her adolescence and early adulthood.
The actress gained widespread recognition following her role in the Disney original “Ice Princess,” during which she portrayed a determined young character aspiring to be a professional figure skater, played by Trachtenberg.
In her early years, Trachtenberg made her debut in Harriet the Spy, portraying a sixth-grader who became involved in the world of espionage.
Films such as 17 Again, Eurotrip, among others, were additionally included in Trachtenberg’s extensive acting portfolio.
Throughout her life, she has received multiple award nominations and wins, among them was the Young Artist Award in 1997, which she earned for her portrayal of Maggie in CBS’s series titled Meego.
