As a dedicated follower of Darryn Lyons’ colorful life and career, I find myself captivated by his latest decision to sell off his extensive collection of art. Having traversed continents, from Australia to Italy, and dabbled in various professions, including paparazzi, politician, and reality TV star, it seems that the auction will serve as another chapter in this extraordinary journey.

As a devoted admirer, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming sale of the daring art collection by Darryn Lyons, a renowned figure from Celebrity Big Brother UK and an Australian-born photographer, later this month.

The 58-year-old ex-paparazzo, currently residing in Italy, shared that he is selling his cherished possessions as he has no intention of going back to Australia.

At the upcoming auction, there will be 246 valuable items up for bidding, among them an extravagant “throne” that was once admired by a well-known pop icon.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that the piece of furniture I’m referring to – the throne – was actually part of a set of two. It so happens that Michael Jackson, a figure I greatly admire, acquired the other one.

‘Still to this day I can’t work out why he bought one and not the pair.’

In the 1990s, when he resided in London, Lyons purchased an ornate showpiece, affectionately known as the ‘Bling King Throne.’ Today, it’s estimated to be worth around $4,000.

He mentioned that by selling off his possessions, he’s not only reducing clutter but also making his life more straightforward and uncomplicated.

Among the various pieces in the Lyons collection, you’ll find an intriguing item – a provocative poster featuring Raquel Welch from the 1960s, depicted as if nailed to a cross, yet clad in minimal swimwear, a skimpy bikini.

Additionally, you’ll find an extensive gallery of sensual artwork, including a renowned nude photograph of the iconic 1950s star, Marilyn Monroe, valued at approximately $1200.

Previously serving as the mayor of Geelong, this individual, who has accumulated artwork throughout his entire life, announced that he is parting with his cherished collection to allow others an opportunity for appreciation and enjoyment of these pieces.

In a different part of the conversation, it emerged that he’s been savoring the experience of time travel, and since the passing of both his parents, his life has taken a new course.

He left his Queensland home in June and said he has no plans to come back to Australia.

It comes after Lyons leased out his amazing Sydney apartment for a whopping $3500-per-week in July.

Nestled in trendy Darlinghurst, you’ll find a fully-furnished, two-bedroom, two-bathroom high-rise apartment at your disposal.

The apartment, located in the renowned Horizon building, boasts a striking pink color palette, daring art pieces, and opulent fixtures and furnishings.

Lyons bought the luxury flat off the plan in 1998 for $604,000, reported The Wentworth Courier.

As per reports, Geelong’s former mayor Lyons (served from 2013-2016) is currently taking a leisurely stay in fashionable St. Tropez on the French Riviera, and has rented out his apartment at least thrice since 2010.

The last time the flat was on the market was in 2022 for $1150.

In a unique twist, Lyons, renowned for his unconventional flair, has designed his Sydney residence with several eye-catching elements, such as a striking, freestanding transparent pink bathtub made of Perspex.

One featured artwork features a nude, tattooed model wearing a wimple.

A different image, depicting the same subject, is located close by, where she assumes a comparable posture while dressed as a nun.

It’s been said that Lyons amassed a fortune, amounting to millions of dollars, by trading Princess Diana’s posthumous photographs.

On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana, her companion Dodi Fayed, their driver Henri Paul, and her security guard all tragically lost their lives due to fatal injuries.

An inquest, which Lyons gave evidence in, was held in London and ended in 2008.

The investigation concluded that Princess Diana’s death was an unlawful incident, with the reckless driving of Henri Paul, influenced by the paparazzi, being a significant factor in the accident.

In Paris, Laurent Sola, who was Darryn’s photographer, captured images of the late princess found in her car, a vehicle that Laurent still possesses.

Nevertheless, the former reality TV personality declared that he hasn’t parted with those photos and has no intention of doing so, even though he was presented with a lucrative offer of approximately $444,000 AUD from both British and American news outlets.

Lyons has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. and Top Gear U.K. in 2011.
