As of today, Sean “Diddy” Combs is serving a four-year prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was convicted in late 2025 of two charges related to transporting people for prostitution. The 56-year-old is scheduled to be released in June 2028, and people are beginning to discuss his future. Aubrey O’Day, who collaborated with Combs in the early 2000s, has recently expressed a worry about what might happen when he gets out.
Aubrey O’Day first gained fame in the 2000s as a contestant on Diddy’s reality show, Making the Band 3. She ultimately joined the girl group Danity Kane through the show, but was later fired by Diddy (Sean Combs) in 2008, along with her bandmate D. Woods. Recently, O’Day has been sharing her thoughts on her past experiences with Diddy, especially given his current legal troubles. In a recent interview with Variety, she was asked about Diddy’s future after potential prison time, and she believes he won’t change.
I’m not convinced his prison sentence will be long enough for him to truly change and address the issues that led to his situation. I’m concerned that with enough money and a good public relations team, he could easily create a false impression of being reformed. This worries me because there will always be people vulnerable to being influenced by him again.

Sean Combs faced a series of legal problems starting in late 2023 when his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, accused him of violence and sex trafficking in a lawsuit. Although the case was settled quickly – within a day – other lawsuits with similar accusations soon followed. In 2024, Combs, also known as the rapper “Victory,” was arrested and his trial took place between May and July 2025. During the trial, Ventura and other individuals testified against him.

Following Diddy’s prison sentencing, singer Aubrey O’Day, who previously worked with him, publicly advised young musicians to be cautious.
Aubrey O’Day didn’t testify in court and expressed relief that she didn’t have to. However, she shared her story in the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. In the third episode, O’Day claimed Sean Combs sent her inappropriate emails in 2008 and that she was removed from the group Danity Kane after refusing his advances. She also presented an affidavit recounting a witness’s claim of seeing her sexually assaulted by Combs and another man.
Before Diddy’s sentencing hearing last fall, Aubrey O’Day predicted his lawyers would try to improve his public image and emphasize his remorse. During the hearing, Diddy did apologize to those he had harmed. Prior to the sentencing, Cassie also worried Diddy might get a lenient punishment and then seek revenge against her and others.
While people like Cassie and Aubrey O’Day have voiced concerns about Sean Combs’ life after prison, his lawyers are working to get him released early. They are appealing his sentence, and the process is progressing. A judge recently agreed to speed up the appeal, and if all paperwork is submitted on time, his lawyers could present their case in court as early as April.
