As an ardent fan of Shobna Gulati, I find myself utterly captivated by her transformation into a silver siren! Her journey from the vibrant brunette we adored as Sunita Alahan on Coronation Street to her current silver self is nothing short of inspiring.

Shobna Gulati appeared almost untraceable with her lengthy, silver hair in a captivating Instagram self-portrait.

Previously known as the Coronation Street actress, now 58 years old and famously portraying Sunita Alahan, recently shared on her social media platform that she’s wholeheartedly accepting her current age.

Shobna expressed great joy over her fresh appearance, as some admirers suggested she return to her brunette roots.

She shared that, having let her hair grow naturally grey after dyeing it brown for many years, she now finds herself feeling more at ease.

The soap star penned: ‘Wiser? Definitely older! and very silver – growing greysfully.

‘So many said I should dye it back to the dark brown hair I had, “i look old , why am I succumbing to being an old lady , it’s not attractive etc etc”

‘But times a changing innit and I’m so happy with what’s transpired and I’m so comfortable now

“I’m not sure, but I believe my head feels better without the bi-weekly root dye… and that’s because there are no harsh chemicals or color-protecting shampoo, making it feel like it did when I was younger… just wanted to share this thought with you.

Although Shobna initially encountered criticism from some fans regarding her fresh hairstyle, many others expressed admiration in the comments of her recent post, praising her as looking ‘stunning’ and wishing they had the courage to adopt a similar style.

Wow, that’s stunning! I can hardly wait for my own hair transformation; I think it suits you wonderfully. You look fantastic, and the courage it takes to make such a change is truly inspiring. Your hair color is amazing! I’m planning on doing something similar myself someday!

You’re absolutely stunning! The gray hair really complements you. I admire those who can rock their natural color, and you do it wonderfully!

In the year 2021, Shobna shared her thoughts on aging with Platinum magazine, stating: “I’m not interested in maintaining an appearance that others expect of me, or what society thinks I should look like.

As someone who proudly embraces my silver locks, I find it incredibly uplifting. When others comment, “You don’t seem your age,” I respond with a sense of confidence, “Indeed, I am just that age.

She went on: ‘Ours is a youth-obsessed society, but the good news is that I’ve watched a lot of European thrillers and dramas during lockdown and it seems that being female of a certain age and experience is represented on screen.

It’s fine if you appear as you are; expressions change on faces and I’ve come to terms with having some gray hair.

From 2001 to 2006, as well as from 2009 to 2013, the actress portrayed Sunita Alahan on Corrie, a widely recognized show.

2019 saw her assume the character of Ray in the live stage play of “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” on the West End, and she later reprised this role in the film version as well.

Shobna reprised her role in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie for the 2023-2024 UK and Ireland Tour.
