Thragg truly stands out as a villain in Invincible, making even powerful characters like Omni-Man and Conquest seem weak by comparison. He’s not only more powerful, but his arrogant and ruthless mindset makes him incredibly dangerous. From the moment he was born, Thragg was rigorously trained to be the ultimate Viltrumite warrior, and he’s lived up to that expectation. His immense strength, combined with his brilliant mind, makes him a threat capable of destroying the world. He’s completely dedicated to expanding the Viltrumite empire, and he’s willing to do anything – even wipe out all of humanity – to achieve that goal. It’s a truly frightening prospect.

RDJ’s Doctor Doom Could Become a Victim of His Own Hype

Later this year, a major rival to Thragg for the title of ‘best villain’ will appear on screen, but Doctor Doom simply doesn’t measure up. While Doctor Doom is brilliant, he lacks the tactical mind and raw power of Thragg. Doom’s motivation stems from his own ego and a desire to control the universe, but Thragg fights for something bigger – the entire Viltrumite race. This greater purpose drives Thragg, making him the ultimate villain in Invincible.

Doctor Doom is currently struggling with public perception, largely due to Robert Downey Jr. himself. As the most recognizable face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a former Iron Man, some people feel he’s overexposed. The MCU has faced challenges since Avengers: Endgame, leading to concerns about whether audiences are losing interest in superhero movies. Downey’s return is clearly an attempt to win back fans. However, while his appearance in Avengers: Doomsday might attract some viewers, many online are criticizing the move, seeing it as an uninspired choice by Marvel.

Thragg Will Only Become a Better Character in Invincible Season 5 & Beyond

We don’t know when season five of Invincible will come out, but after season four, it’s clear that Thragg is a seriously powerful enemy. The same could be true for Doctor Doom, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t really shown us how dangerous he is yet. While Robert Downey Jr. is a talented actor, he can’t fix the fact that Marvel Studios missed opportunities to build up Doctor Doom as a major threat. Honestly, despite any hype, Doctor Doom probably won’t be the best supervillain of 2026 – it just doesn’t seem likely.
