Mystery fans should keep a look-out for a new Ireland-set crime drama called Irish Blood.
The upcoming Acorn TV series, set to debut on August 11 next week, features Alicia Silverstone from the movie Clueless as a Los Angeles attorney. After returning to Ireland, her character finds herself ensnared in a complex net of family secrets and peril, as hinted by Rotten Tomatoes.
In this six-part series, the narrative revolves around Fiona Sharpe, whose life journey appears to have been marked by her father, Declan, who seems to have left her and her mother on her 10th birthday.
For many years, she had transformed her anger towards him into advantage for her lawsuits. However, a message from her father prompted an unexpected journey to Ireland.
In this rephrased version, the protagonist discovers vital facts about her father and an unaware family, including the surprising revelation that the narrative of abandonment which has significantly influenced her life, was actually false.
“There she comes to understand essential truths concerning her father, a family who remains unaware of her existence, and most importantly, the heart-stirring discovery that the story of desertion that has molded her entire life, was in fact, untrue.

In a bid to shield herself and her mother from her father’s questionable business affairs, Fiona decides to unearth the complete truth about him. Her goal is not just to understand him better, but also to rebuild the relationship she believed she had with the father she thought she knew.
An earlier sneak peek of the series, offering viewers a glimpse into the suspenseful mystery to come, is available for viewing (as seen above).
As a passionate gamer, I’d rephrase that for you: “Irish Blood” is a project I’m excited about, helmed by the talented Molly McGlynn, who has previously worked on Grown-ish. The script is penned by an impressive team including Christina Ray from Murdoch Mysteries, John Krizanc from Departure, and Mike O’Leary from Do Not Disturb.
Among the stellar cast of this series, I’m fortunate to share the screen with Wendy Crewson from “We Were Liars,” Jason O’Mara known for his role in “Agents of SHIELD,” Djouliet Amara from “The Big Door Prize,” Kal John, famously recognized as “Kingslayer,” Henry Garrett from “Silo,” Vincent Walsh from “The Fall,” Stephen Hogan from “The Dry,” and Barry John Kinsella who played a role in “Maxine.” What an incredible ensemble to be part of!

In an interview with Today, Silverstone commended the series for its “intriguing mystery and detective aspects,” and hinted at some “unusually peculiar” features as well.
She noted that the story is filled with emotional depth, making it an engaging experience for her. In her opinion, the narrative is well-crafted, promising an enjoyable journey for viewers. The pace of the story is brisk, and it effectively captures one’s attention from the start.
The star reminisced about how “fantastic” it was to shoot in Ireland, and praised the “outstanding” teams they collaborated with.
Silverstone additionally holds the title of executive producer, and went on to discuss his role in overseeing the series since its initial concept.
primarily our destination being Ireland, along with some additional details.
I was given the chance to work closely with the main creative decision-makers throughout the entire process, from scriptwriting and casting to editing. This has made the experience incredibly rewarding.
Irish Blood will stream on Acorn TV from 11 August.
