As an avid gamer with a passion for football management games that spans back to the days of Championship Manager and its subsequent iterations, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the announcement of Football Manager 25. Having spent countless hours meticulously crafting my dream teams, negotiating transfer deals, and guiding them to glory in various leagues across the globe, the prospect of experiencing this beloved series with “the biggest technical and visual advancement for the series in a generation” is truly tantalizing.
Sega, together with developers at Sports Interactive, have unveiled Football Manager 25 – the newest addition to their renowned football simulation franchise. This upcoming release signifies a transition to the Unity engine, promising significant technological and visual enhancements, representing a leap forward for the series in terms of development over the past few years.
An updated user interface offers a “more streamlined and intelligent” interaction, featuring easier navigation, along with improvements in visual accuracy and the incorporation of actual football match player animations to create a more authentic Matchday gameplay experience.
In FM 25, Women’s Football is set to make its entrance, integrating with the men’s league within a unified and continuous gameplay environment. Moreover, the Premier League will be fully represented, following a fresh, long-term agreement established between SI and the Prem.
According to Studio Director Miles Jacobson, FM25 serves as a launching pad for the studio’s future development over the next 20 to 30 years. Moreover, it marks the completion of two long-term projects: the transition to the Unity engine and the debut of Women’s Football within the studio.
Starting now, it brings us immense pride to unveil the fruits of our labor to you, and we can hardly wait to reveal even more aspects of the game as its launch approaches,” he continued.
The Football Manager 2025 Console edition will launch simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, alongside the PC/Mac version and the mobile version of FM 2025, which will be available on Xbox Game Pass from its release date. Additionally, a special version for Nintendo Switch called Football Manager Touch 2025 is planned for release three days later.
