A previously unseen video has emerged showing Ruby Rose expressing her admiration for Katy Perry at the 2012 premiere of the 3D movie, ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’.
A video from June 30, 2012, shows the Australian actress enthusiastically praising Perry, despite recently alleging he sexually assaulted her in 2010 at a Melbourne nightclub called Spice Market. The footage was filmed at an Event Cinemas location in Sydney.
‘I’m so excited, I love Katy to bits,’ Ruby begins in footage filmed on the red carpet.
Oh my gosh, I just saw her backstage at the hotel, and it was incredible! She was getting ready, trying on all these amazing outfits… it felt like a private glimpse into the real Katy, you know? Like I was seeing the person behind the superstar, and it was just… everything.
‘I get to come watch the film where everyone gets to see the real Katy, so it is an honour.’
The Batwoman actress explained she was a huge fan of Katy Perry and really wanted to share that excitement with other people.
You know, things don’t always go as planned! My guest had to cancel at the last minute, so I did what felt right – I invited two people from the audience to join me on stage. It was a spontaneous decision, but I knew that’s what my friend Katy would have encouraged. Honestly, it turned into a really fun moment, and I think everyone enjoyed it!
Recently discovered video comes after reports that Victoria Police is looking into the claims Rose made about sexual assault involving Perry.
Perry has refuted the claims made against her, and police are now looking into the matter following a complaint filed by Rose.
Police detectives with the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are looking into a sexual assault that happened in Melbourne back in 2010, according to a Victoria Police statement to Daily Mail on Wednesday.
‘Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.
‘As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.’
Rose has shared on Threads that she’s unable to discuss the situation further because the police are looking into what happened.
She reported on Tuesday that she had finished all of her reports earlier that day.
From now on, I can’t discuss those cases or the people connected to them in any public way, including making comments or sharing information.
It might seem like I’m tuning everything out – from kind words to what others are going through – but that’s not the case. I’m still listening and aware.
Receiving this request from the police is actually a relief. It means I can finally begin to heal and start moving forward. I’m so grateful for all of your support and love.
Daily Mail has reached out to Perry’s representatives for comment.
Perry responded to Rose’s accusations, firmly denying any sexual assault and calling the claims harmful and untrue.
Rose shared on social media that the incident involving the singer happened at a Melbourne nightclub when she was in her twenties.
She added that it had taken her years to speak about it publicly.
‘I’m now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly,’ she said.
A spokesperson for Katy Perry has responded to claims made by Ruby Rose on social media, stating they are completely untrue and harmful.
Ms. Rose frequently makes serious claims about people on social media, but those accused have consistently denied her allegations.
This isn’t the first time the Australian actress has publicly criticized Perry. Back in 2017, she famously called Perry’s song ‘Swish Swish’ ‘purposeful poop’.
Just days after making the comments, Rose clarified her position on X, stating that she doesn’t like being unkind and it makes her feel bad.
Let me tell you, as someone who’s spent years observing how people thrive, I’ve learned that being unkind creates way more problems than it solves – it really unravels things quickly. Honestly, it really bothers me when I see people getting away with bullying. It instantly makes me want to speak up, but I’ve realized it’s not always my role to intervene directly.
