FlyQuest makes history with first-ever LCS title in Summer 2024

As a long-time follower of the LCS, I can confidently say that this Summer Split has been nothing short of thrilling! I remember the days when FlyQuest was just another team struggling to make a name for themselves, but today they stand as the champions of the LCS 2024 Summer Split.

FlyQuest clinched the first seed spot for Worlds 2024 in the LCS after they triumphed over popular team, Team Liquid Honda.

The League Championship Series (LCS) 2024 has bestowed the title of champion upon FlyQuest in the Summer Split, as they emerged victorious over popular rival Team Liquid Honda in the Grand Finals with a decisive 3-1 scoreline.

On September 7, the decisive Best-of-5 series between FlyQuest and Team Liquid Honda took place at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles’s Hollywood Park. The victorious team pocketed a grand prize of USD $100,000, while the runner-up went home with USD $50,000.

Team Liquid Honda is favored to win the tournament

In the tournament, Team Liquid Honda was expected to emerge victorious and they lived up to expectations, showcasing an unbeaten 7-0 streak during the Group Stage. They carried this impressive form into the Playoffs, winning every match in the Upper Bracket. This included a hard-fought 3-2 victory over FlyQuest in the Upper Bracket Finals.

In the Lower Bracket Final matchup, FlyQuest swept 100 Thieves with a 3-0 victory, earning another opportunity to challenge Team Liquid Honda for redemption. The exceptional play of Team Liquid Honda during the season had many spectators predicting their win over FlyQuest and claiming the Split title, as they had done in the LCS 2024 Spring Finals.

First ever LCS title for FlyQuest

As a thrilled fan, I witnessed the Best-of-5 showdown kick off, with FlyQuest clinching the first match in a resounding 15-3 win within 32 minutes. But Team Liquid Honda didn’t let that discourage them; they bounced back in the second game, triumphing with a convincing 22-10 score in just 26 minutes, making it all square.

In the third game, FlyQuest managed to take control, leading up to a climactic moment when they scored the decisive point and ultimately won the match. This triumph occurred at the 39-minute mark through an exciting minions base rush. In the end, they outplayed their opponents, who turned out to be the LCS 2024 Spring champions, with a final score of 3-1.

This victory not only crowned FlyQuest as the LCS Summer 2024 champion and secured them the LCS Seed #1 spot for Worlds 2024, but also marks a historic moment for the organization as it represents their first LCS title. The community agrees that the Summer Split was full of surprises, especially following Cloud9’s absence from Worlds.

LCS has finalized 3 representatives for Worlds 2024

With the tournament ended, the LCS has also finalized their representatives for Worlds:

  • Seed #1: FlyQuest, qualified for Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage
