I’m reporting that a man was arrested at the Sundance Film Festival for attacking a Florida congressman. Apparently, the incident happened after he was overheard making racist remarks to people at a party hosted by Creative Artists Agency. It’s a really unfortunate situation that took a disturbing turn.
Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost of Florida said he was unharmed after being hit by a man police have identified as 28-year-old Christian Young. He shared this information on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to a post on X, Frost was attacked at the Sundance Film Festival by a man who reportedly made threats about deportation and then punched them. The attacker was heard yelling racist comments as he fled the scene, and was subsequently arrested.
Maxwell Frost, 29, made history as the first Gen Z member of Congress. Representing a district in Central Florida, he’s currently serving his second term. He identifies as Afro-Latino.

Frost shared on his website that he comes from a mixed background, with ancestors from Puerto Rico, Lebanon, and Haiti. He was adopted as a baby by a musician and producer originally from Kansas, and a teacher who came to the United States from Cuba as a child in the 1960s.
According to a party attendee who spoke with The Times, the suspect unexpectedly entered the party and made inappropriate comments to guests, even in the men’s restroom, before reportedly attacking the congressman.
Security personnel removed the suspect from the venue, the source said. Police quickly arrived.
According to Park City Police Lieutenant Danielle Snelson, officers investigated an assault that happened shortly after midnight at the High West Saloon on Park Avenue. The saloon was the site of a party hosted by CAA the previous Friday night.
According to an email from Snelson, officers investigated and found that Christian Young entered a private party without permission after being denied entry earlier for lacking an invitation. While inside, Young physically attacked Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost and another woman who was at the party.
Frost’s companion was not identified.
Following the incident, the congressman was spotted talking with Park City police officers near the restaurant. He later posted on X, thanking both the restaurant’s security team and the Park City Police Department for their help.
I was shocked to hear they’d arrested someone in connection with the case! Apparently, they’ve taken the suspect into custody and booked them into the Summit County Jail in Utah. The charges are serious – aggravated burglary and two counts of simple assault. It’s a relief to see some action being taken, honestly.
I was really disturbed to hear that the judge decided to hold Mr. Young without bail. Apparently, there’s strong evidence he might try to leave, and the judge believes he’s a significant threat to our community. It’s a scary situation, and I’m glad the judge is taking it seriously.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries expressed horror regarding the attack on Congressman Maxwell Frost, stating he was thankful Frost was unharmed but deeply disturbed by the violent incident. Jeffries called for the attacker to be fully prosecuted, emphasizing that hate and political violence are unacceptable in the United States.

Protesters take to the streets in Los Angeles after another person is killed in Minneapolis
A shooting happened several hours before a federal agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement fatally shot an ICU nurse in Minneapolis on Saturday. This incident has caused significant public anger, and it marks the third shooting involving ICE officers in Minneapolis in the past three weeks, according to Police Chief Brian O’Hara.
Around a dozen protesters against ICE marched along Main Street in Park City on Sunday, encouraging people at the festival to support their cause.
