Florence Pugh explains why it was “necessary” to defend Zach Braff romance

As a fan who has witnessed Florence Pugh’s journey from her breakout role in “Lady Macbeth” to her latest collaboration with Andrew Garfield in “We Live in Time,” it’s truly inspiring to see her growth, not just as an actress, but as a person navigating the complexities of fame and relationships. Her resilience in the face of criticism and scrutiny is admirable, particularly when it comes to defending her relationship with Zach Braff.

Florence Pugh has revealed why she found it “necessary” to defend her relationship with Zach Braff.

In 2019, the actor from “We Live in Time” and the star of “Scrubs” started dating. They met each other while collaborating on the project titled “In the Time It Takes to Get There”.

The critics targeted their romantic bond because of a significant age difference of 21 years between the two actors. This scrutiny was something that Florence Pugh, star of Midsommar, termed as harsh and unkind.

She shared that in the past, due to being bullied herself and having her partner targeted as well, she felt compelled to speak openly about it. (Vogue)

Our connection with Zach was mostly kept secretive until things turned sour, and I noticed how badly it was affecting him, us, and our respective families. That’s when I decided to voice my concerns. For any partner I have, I feel a need to shield them from harm.

“It’s unpleasant to learn that those I care for are subjected to harsh, unkind words. It was crucial for me to discuss it. I believe any relationship under the spotlight will face stress.

In the year 2022, their romantic involvement came to an end. Scarlett Johansson, known for her role as Black Widow, confirmed that she has moved on and entered into a new relationship; however, the identity of this partner remains undisclosed.

She disclosed that they are currently discovering their true identities. For the first time, she is choosing not to rush headlong into a series of ups and downs. Instead, she’s giving herself the opportunity for something to develop organically and authentically, rather than hastily diving in.

She said “falling [in love] is the most amazing feeling”, adding: “Unfortunately if that’s the only thing that you know in a relationship, then that’s the thing that you chase, that’s not gonna last”.

We Live in Time is released in US cinemas on October 11 and in UK cinemas on January 1, 2025.
