Flogging Molly gives update on future of the band
As a die-hard fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating catching Flogging Molly live in concert in 2025. Unfortunately, it seems that dream might not come true. Here’s hoping they make a comeback in 2026, but for now, there are more pressing matters to attend to. The music, while still dear to me, takes a backseat as other priorities take center stage.
Initially scheduled for another tour, Flogging Molly, known for their continuous live performances, had to unexpectedly call it off last February. The public was informed that lead vocalist and band founder, Dave King, was battling a “significant health issue.” However, further updates surfaced in March, providing more specifics about his condition.
On St. Patrick’s Day, Bridget Regan, who is both King’s wife and a band member, shared updates from the band’s official social media accounts stating that King had experienced a brain hemorrhage and underwent two separate surgeries. These procedures took place at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The second surgery occurred on February 28, and the post indicated that his recovery is progressing well.

According to the statement, the king yearns to resume his musical endeavors once more. At 63 years old, he remains vigorous enough for a complete recuperation, and it’s hoped that whatever led to the hemorrhage won’t impede his skill on the various instruments he plays. This isn’t a flippant wish from a fan, but rather reflects what the king himself aspires to do.
He has a desire to create music, and it’s something that fans of Flogging Molly eagerly anticipate. Additionally, these fans share a common wish to witness the band performing live in the near future.
For over four decades, this musical collective has been taking their music on stage, willing to journey far and wide for their audience. It’s not about album sales for them; it’s about providing entertainment. While Flogging Molly’s albums are excellent, their live shows truly outshine them. The band’s infectious energy and top-tier fan interaction make their performances a spectacle not to be missed.
Certainly, King’s complete healing doesn’t have a set deadline. The pace of recovery varies among individuals. Fortunately, we can enjoy their music in the meantime, as we eagerly await Flogging Molly’s return to performing live.
