Flogging Molly calls off tour due to frontman Dave King’s ‘very serious health condition’
The Celtic punk band Flogging Molly, formed in L.A. during the ’90s, has decided to cancel its 2025 concerts due to a “severe health issue” that requires immediate attention from frontman Dave King and his bandmate wife, Bridget Regan.
In simpler terms, it implies that all the concerts on the band’s Road to Rebellion tour, including the St. Patrick’s Day performance at the Hollywood Palladium, have been canceled. Shows were also scheduled for the southeastern and southwestern parts of the U.S., as well as in Austria, Belgium, France, and Switzerland, but these too have been called off.
Our extraordinary leader, Dave King, is facing a severe health challenge right now. Dave and Bridget kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period. If you could spare any positive thoughts or prayers for Dave, he, as well as we, would be most grateful,” the band expressed on social media Wednesday.
Details concerning the health status of the 63-year-old rock musician have not been disclosed. All we know is that the group stated they won’t be able to perform this year due to some unknown reasons.
Apart from Flogging Molly’s lead members, the remaining five bandmates are set to join a five-day sea voyage as scheduled, departing from Miami in about two weeks. The itinerary includes stops at Grand Cayman island and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The Salty Dog Cruise 2025, featuring Flogging Molly, promises an impressive lineup of 18 other bands such as Circle Jerks and the Gaslight Anthem, along with DJs and skilled skateboarders on board.

Legendary heavy metal artist Ozzy Osbourne announces the scheduled date for his last performance, marking a historic reunion of the original Black Sabbath bandmates following a gap of two decades.
The band members mentioned in their statement that they will attend to honor the cruise, the camaraderie, and our esteemed leader, Dave King.
Flogging Molly got their name as a tribute to Molly Malone’s Irish Pub on Fairfax Avenue, where they initially met and received early support during their formative years.
Originally from Dublin, he later moved to Los Angeles where he encountered Regan and other bandmates, experiencing difficulties related to his immigration situation for a while.
In an interview with The Times back in 2017, King revealed that during his stay in L.A., he faced a visa issue which prevented him from traveling to Ireland. Coincidentally, this was also the time when his Celtic punk rock band was gaining momentum, having just moved beyond Molly Malone’s and embarking on West Coast tours. This enforced absence made him realize even more profoundly how deeply Irish music resonated with him.
Music
During the mid-1990s, a Dublin-born musician named Dave King started playing music weekly with his friends at Molly Malone’s, an enduring Irish pub situated along Fairfax Avenue.
When I couldn’t return home physically, I decided to go back emotionally through music – a journey that would reflect my personal growth and the lessons I’ve gathered along the way.
He stated, “In my youth, politics weren’t on my radar; I didn’t foresee a brighter future. However, as I travel, I always feel a sense of pride when we return to Ireland because I witness the optimism and joy people have for life.
