Floatopia, a whimsical life simulation game from NetEase Games is coming to Mobile, PC and Consoles in 2025

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the humble beginnings of 8-bit graphics to the immersive worlds of modern gaming. The trailer for NetEase Games’ Floatopia caught my attention at this year’s gamescom Opening Night Live, and I must say, it’s a breath of fresh air!

NetEase Games is set to debut a visually appealing simulation game called Floatopia. This game was among the titles presented at the Opening Night Live event during gamescom 2024 on August 21, 2024. The release of this game is scheduled for various platforms such as mobile devices, PCs, and consoles in the year 2025.

One thing to note here is that the gamescom ONL trailer does not mention the mobile release. But NetEase Games has confirmed to us that the game is indeed coming to Android and iOS as well.

Floatopia offers you a beautiful otherworldly setting with floating islands

At the premiere during gamescom, we were given a sneak peek into the concept behind Floatopia. This game encourages us to delve into a captivating realm of driftwood islands suspended in the sky. Here, you can unwind with tranquil pursuits such as farming, fishing, and personalizing your own cloud-suspended abode.

Based on the trailer’s unveiling, the artwork appears charming and from a graphical perspective, it seems to cover all the essential aspects for a captivating life simulator. It offers a delightful setting where one can escape reality and unwind in a serene, digital existence. Characters like Pandy and Blit-z are also included as shown, implying that we could potentially select a character to our preference.

In the captivating realm of Floatopia, you’ll find a setting where extraordinary abilities are the norm. The game infuses a dash of enchantment into routine activities, providing a relaxing and entertaining escape into a whimsical fantasy universe. Team up with characters endowed with these special powers and explore diverse locations, each boasting its own unique culture and stunning vistas, ranging from deserts to icy tundras.

In the magical realm of Floatopia, you’ll find yourself with extraordinary abilities. You can cultivate crops, fish in the dreamy sea of clouds, soar through the sky, and collect adorable creatures. The cherry on top is having control over the weather to match your whims. On top of that, you’ll enjoy the liberty to customize your island and residence with a wide selection of themed decorations, crafting an environment that truly reflects your personality as you welcome friends for exciting gatherings.

Floatopia will release in 2025 although no dates are confirmed

Based on its overall style, I think it’s most akin to Nintendo’s hit game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, although the visual aspects are not quite the same. However, I anticipate that some of the features will be similar, even though the gameplay trailer doesn’t show this yet. As more details emerge, we’ll have a better understanding of what to expect from this upcoming game.

Additionally, there’s the upcoming project known as “Sims 5 (Project Rene)”. However, unlike this game, it may not feature a “fantasy” setting. As for now, NetEase Games’ Floatopia is scheduled to debut in 2025, available on platforms such as PlayStation 5 (PS5), Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android, and iOS.
