FISSURE PLAYGROUND welcomes its invited teams

2025’s inaugural significant Dota 2 tournament, titled FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1, will take place on January 24th, and the complete lineup of participating teams has been officially revealed.

It’s been a month since we last witnessed some top-tier Dota 2 gameplay, as ESL One Bangkok concluded in mid-December 2024. But fear not, as the new year is just about to serve us our first proper dose of Dota 2 action, excluding qualifiers. The highly anticipated FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 tournament is nearly upon us!

Today, as excited fans eagerly anticipate, the lineups for the teams heading to Belgrade have been officially confirmed. The athletes are all geared up to kick off the inaugural tournament of the brand-new year.

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 sets the Dota 2 stage

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for news about the final teams participating in FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1, scheduled for December 2024. And today, the wait is over! The original five teams that secured their spot are Wildcard, Talon Esports, Yakult Brothers, Chimera Esports, and AVULUS. I can hardly contain my excitement as we prepare to face off in this epic gaming event!

Initially, only five squads were part of the competition. However, 11 other teams were given direct invitations to join them. On January 24th, these 16 teams will embark on their quest to claim the title of champions in FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1.

The full list of teams heading to the event in Belgrade, Serbia, are:

  • Team Liquid

  • AVULUS (Western Europe qualifier)
  • Talon Esports (Southeast Asia qualifier)
  • Chimera Esports (Eastern Europe qualifier)
  • Wildcard (American qualifier)
  • Yakult Brothers (China qualifier)

From January 31, the Sava Centar in Belgrade, Serbia, will kick off a series of exciting events, marking the start of the grand finals weekend for FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1. The much-anticipated champion will be declared on February 2, 2025.

The triumphant team will receive a portion of the $1,000,000 award – and be officially recognized as champions at the initial major Dota 2 event of the year. As the off-season brings fresh players and squad adjustments, Fissure Playground 1 is gearing up to provide an ideal platform for the 2025 Dota 2 season.
