First trailer for Will Ferrell’s 100%-rated new Netflix movie
As a long-time fan of Will Ferrell’s comedic genius, I can’t help but feel my heart swell with anticipation as I watch the trailer for “Will & Harper”. Having grown up on his hilarious characters and unforgettable performances, it’s truly awe-inspiring to see him stepping out of his comfort zone yet again, this time in a documentary that delves deep into the complexities of friendship and identity.
Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek at the upcoming film titled “Will & Harper” before it hits theaters next week
The film traces the journey of Will Ferrell and his longtime friend Harper Steele, who recently revealed her identity as a transgender woman after three decades of companionship. This dynamic duo initially met during Will’s first day at Saturday Night Live back in 1995
Over a span of sixteen days, Harper and Will journeyed from New York to Los Angeles, using this road trip as a means to explore the evolution of their friendship while also rekindling Harper’s affection for her cherished homeland
In this documentary, they travel to significant locations for both of them, their friendship, and the nation, venturing beyond their usual boundaries as they reassess their connections to these areas and one another
On the following Friday, which is the 13th of September, the movie titled “Will & Harper” will hit a few select cinemas in the UK. After that, it will become available on Netflix starting from the 27th of September
Earlier this year, the film was initially screened at the Sundance Film Festival, and it’s now enjoying a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on its initial 21 critic reviews
Check out some of the early praise for Will & Harper below:
Variety
In a way that might seem predictable, the movie “Will & Harper” truly stands out as being what our current world requires. Steele’s character, fighting to acknowledge her own attractiveness in a world that often seems intent on undermining her identity, provides a grounded portrayal of the transgender experience
The Guardian
“Will & Harper shines brightest when it’s more compact, telling a heartfelt tale about two companions journeying together, unsure of how things will turn out, minus the certainty of a classic Hollywood conclusion.”
Vanity Fair
“The movie’s key advantage lies in shedding light on a subject that some choose to ignore. Ideally, the film Will & Harper aims to reach those who would benefit most from hearing Steele’s testimony.”
Screen International
Although the bond between Will and Harper is what truly pulses at the core of the movie, even the unassuming responses of bystanders can be surprisingly touching
Will & Harper is released in select cinemas on September 13 and on Netflix on September 27.
