First trailer for Sydney Sweeney and Jude Law’s thriller revealed in unexpected way
The initial teaser for the movie titled “Eden“, starring Sydney Sweeney and Jude Law, was unveiled in an unanticipated manner.
Under the direction of Ron Howard, who previously worked on “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, this movie is a gripping survival tale featuring Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Richard Roxburgh. The plot revolves around a band of European immigrants who settled on the Ecuadorian island of Floreana.
Despite being helmed by a well-known American director and featuring a star-studded English-speaking cast, the only available trailer at this time appears to be dubbed in German.
The reason for this is that the movie hasn’t found a distributor or has not announced an English-speaking release date as of now. It’s slated to be released exclusively in Germany through Leonine Studios, coming out in April.
At the Toronto International Film Festival, the movie was shown for people to watch, and since then, it has been evaluated by critics. Based on these evaluations, the film currently holds a mediocre rating of 57% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As a passionate admirer, I’ve noticed a recurring critique in some of the less favorable reviews: the movie seems forgettable, and the exceptional cast doesn’t seem to have much room to shine with their characters. Contrastingly, the praise from more optimistic critics has been heaped on de Armas for her entertaining, over-the-top performance that skillfully blends camp and black comedy, significantly enhancing the film as a whole.
Moving forward, Sweeney has been shooting a new project titled “The Housemaid“, directed by the same visionary behind “Bridesmaids” and “Last Christmas“.
The movie chronicles the story of a woman taking up employment with a well-off pair, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, unveiling hidden mysteries and shady aspects in their lives.
She’s also landed a role in A24’s Edgar Allen Poe adaptation The Masque of the Red Death.
Eden releases in Germany in April. It does not currently have a release date in other territories.
