First trailer for Saoirse Ronan and Stephen Graham’s British drama Blitz

As a film enthusiast with a keen interest in historical dramas, I am absolutely thrilled about Steve McQueen’s new period piece, “Blitz.” The trailer has only whetted my appetite for this gripping tale of a family’s struggle to reunite amidst the chaos of World War II.

Blitz, Steve McQueen’s new period drama starring Saoirse Ronan, has released its first trailer.

As I eagerly await the global debut of this movie at the BFI London Film Festival on October 9th, it’s given me a fascinating glimpse into a WWII tale about a family battling against all odds to reconnect amidst the relentless British air raids by Germany.

In a different casting, Ronan assumes the role of Rita, a resident from the East End of London, who arranges for her child, George (played by Elliott Heffernan), to find refuge in the English countryside.

When George decides to return to his mother and grandfather (Paul Weller), he exposes himself to an unimaginable risk. Simultaneously, Rita enlists her fellow factory workers and initiates a rescue mission to locate her lost child.

The cast for the historical drama is completed with Stephen Graham, Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham joining the lineup.

In an announcement about one of his films launching the BFI London Film Festival for a third time, filmmaker McQueen expressed his excitement to honor the premiere in his home city.

In a statement, the filmmaker mentioned that “Blitz” is a movie focusing on the Londoners, paying tribute to their resilience and experiences during the bombings (blitz). However, it also delves into an authentic portrayal of people in London, while centering around the tale of a working-class family yearning for reunification amidst war times.

I am absolutely ecstatic that the BFI London Film Festival has chosen us to kick off this year’s event, and it’s an incredible honor to debut our film, “Blitz“, in my home city.

BFI London Film Festival 2024 runs from October 9 to October 20.

As a movie enthusiast and gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement as Blitz kicks off the BFI London Film Festival this year on October 9th! After its exclusive cinema run starting from November 1st, it’s time for me (and you!) to stream this masterpiece worldwide on Apple TV+, setting our screens ablaze with its brilliance on November 22nd.
