First trailer for Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole’s new survival thriller

As a gamer who’s been through countless survival games, I can confidently say that Last Breath, starring Finn Cole and set to hit theaters in 2025, is bound to be a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat experience. The true story of Chris Lemons, a deep-sea diver who found himself trapped underwater with limited resources, sounds like the ultimate challenge for any survival enthusiast.

In the pulse-pounding survival drama “Last Breath,” Finn Cole plays the leading role, based on real events.

The upcoming film by director Alex Parkinson, a follow-up to the 2019 Netflix documentary with the same title, narrates the tale of Chris Lemons (Cole), a seasoned deep-sea diver. In 2012, while performing repairs in the North Sea, Cole experienced an accident that led to the severance of his umbilical tether.

Following a malfunction in the dynamic positioning system on Lemon’s support ship, the vessel loses control and starts drifting aimlessly. This unfortunate event results in the severing of his cable, trapping a diver at a depth of 100 meters beneath the sea surface with only a limited amount of breathing gas available.

In the trailer, there’s a thrilling scene where David Yuasa, Lemons’ coworker (portrayed by Simu Liu from the movie Shang-Chi), discovers that his cable is about to be severed and vows to come back and assist him in getting back up to the surface.

Next, the clip falls silent and transitions to a black screen to replicate the atmosphere that Lemons experienced during those frightening moments.

In Chris’s situation, lacking the cable meant more than just losing access to heliox; it also deprived him of warm water to heat his suit, electricity for his light source, and a means to communicate with the team above ground.

With the assistance of sailor Duncan Allcock (played by Woody Harrelson), David sets out on a risky venture to save Chris at sea.

Cast for the Last Breath is rounded out by Cliff Curtis, Djimon Hounsou, Nick Biadon and Liz Khan.

The movie, jointly penned by Parkinson alongside Mitchell LaFortune and David Brooks, is scheduled for release in cinemas across the US and UK on February 28, 2025.

Known primarily for his portrayal of Michael Gray in the series “Peaky Blinders“, Cole has also appeared as the young version of Jakob Toretto in “F9” and in the upcoming Netflix psychological thriller titled “Locked In”, set to release in 2023.

The movie “Last Breath” will be shown in cinemas starting from February 28, 2025. You can also watch the same titled documentary on Netflix by streaming it online.
