First trailer for new Lord of the Rings movie with Brian Cox
As a lifelong fanatic of Middle-earth’s epic tales, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming cinematic adventures that lie ahead! The new anime movie, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim”, looks absolutely breathtaking with its stunning animation and gripping narrative.
Enthusiasts of “The Lord of the Rings” series are currently enjoying a veritable feast, as “The Rings of Power” is set to resume next week, and a fresh film is slated for cinema release this coming Christmas.
We’ve recently unveiled the first trailer for the anime movie “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” led by acclaimed director Kenji Kamiyama, and produced by Philippa Boyens, with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh serving as executive producers.
183 years prior to the storyline in “The Hobbit,” the upcoming film delves into the destiny of the House of Helm Hammerhand, a renowned king who ruled over Rohan.
In the trailer, it is revealed that Helm mistakenly took the life of Freca, a nobleman from Rohan, when he rejected a marriage proposal between Freca’s son, Wulf, and Helm’s daughter, Héra. This act provoked Wulf to retaliate against Helm for his father’s murder.
In the final battle at the historical fortress called Hornburg (later named Helm’s Deep), Helm’s daughter Herawaged the courage to spearhead the uprising against Wulf and his invading Dunledning troops.
The teaser hints at maintaining the grand combat scenes similar to those found in the Lord of the Rings films, but this time showcased in breathtaking animation, as well as some inspiring final-moment orations.
In the film titled “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” we find an ensemble cast headed by Brian Cox portraying Helm Hammerhand, Gaia Wise as Héra, and Luke Pasqualino playing the role of Wulf. Furthermore, Lorraine Ashbourne, Yazdan Qafouri, Shaun Dooley, and Bilal Hasna are also part of this distinguished cast.
The film is set to hit theatres on December 13th, allowing you the option to catch two movies in one evening by pairing it with “Kraven the Hunter” if desired.
To connect the story back to its original trilogy, actress Miranda Otto returns to portray Éowyn, the brave shield-maiden of Rohan, and tells the narrative.
In the trailer, we catch a hint of it as she establishes the backdrop: “Every corner of Middle-earth is familiar with the story of the War of the Ring, yet 200 years prior to that, there was another, older narrative.”
The film was initially planned for a premiere in April 2024 but got moved to its December 13th release date instead. Interestingly, all previous “Lord of the Rings” movies, including “The Hobbit” series, were unveiled prior to Christmas. So, this delay seems fitting.
As a gaming enthusiast excitedly looking ahead, I can’t help but share the thrilling news that I’ll be witnessing a fresh wave of live-action Lord of the Rings films! Kicking off with the enticing tale of The Hunt for Gollum, slated for release in 2026. The magic doesn’t stop there – Andy Serkis, our beloved Gollum himself, will reprise his role and even take on the director’s chair, promising a cinematic journey unlike any other!
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is released in cinemas on December 13.
