First trailer for Millie Bobby Brown’s Netflix movie The Electric State

As a fan of both Millie Bobby Brown and the Russo Brothers, I am absolutely thrilled to see them team up for “The Electric State“. The trailer has me hooked with its retro-futuristic vibe, reminiscent of a dystopian world straight out of a graphic novel.

The first trailer for the retro-futuristic The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown is here.

In the synopsis, it’s revealed that the character portrayed by the star of “Stranger Things” is Michelle, an orphaned teenager. She finds herself navigating her life in a world where sentient robots, similar to cartoons and mascots, once peacefully coexisted with humans but now live in exile following an unsuccessful rebellion, having failed to overthrow their human masters.

Her life undergoes a dramatic shift when her younger brother Christopher, who she thought was deceased, brings a charming and enigmatic robot named Cosmo into her presence.

I embark on a quest to reconnect with the long-lost sibling I thought was gone forever, alongside Cosmo. Teaming up with the cunning smuggler Keats, portrayed by Chris Pratt, and his talking robot pal Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie), we delve into the forbidden Exclusion Zone, a realm where robots reign supreme.

In the heart of a captivating, future-forward metropolis filled with colossal structures and mystifying automatons, I found myself as Michelle – my gaming avatar – embarking on an uncharted adventure.

At this moment, she points out that we share a similar experience – a loss following the rebellion.

“Robots lost their freedom. Humans lost connection with each other. And I lost everyone I loved.”

In a somber interpretation of Oasis’ ‘Champagne Supernova’, Michelle encounters the charming, sunshine-yellow, toothy Cosmo, embarking on a journey through the wreckage of the cosmos alongside Keats and Herman in search of her brother.

The trailer reveals The Electric State will be available on Netflix on March 14, 2025.

Under the direction of Anthony and Joe Russo, an illustrious ensemble includes Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, and Woody Norman.

Among the voice cast is Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk.

The movie is adapted from a graphic novel penned by Simon Stålenhag, with the script penned by duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The Electric State is released on Netflix on March 14.
