First trailer for Jodie Whittaker’s Netflix British movie That Christmas
As a seasoned gamer and film enthusiast with a penchant for all things British, I must admit that Netflix’s latest offering, “That Christmas,” has piqued my interest. Having grown up on Richard Curtis’ heartwarming cinematic tales and being an avid fan of his work, the prospect of a family-friendly “Love Actually” spin-off is nothing short of exhilarating.
Even though it’s all about ghosts and goblins this week due to Halloween, Netflix is really getting into the holiday spirit by unveiling the first trailer for their brand-new British animated series titled “That Christmas“. As a gamer and animation enthusiast, I can’t wait to see what they have in store!
After previews for films like “Hot Frosty” and “Our Little Secret”, the streaming platform has delivered an early holiday treat with the trailer for a newly written family film, penned by none other than Richard Curtis himself.
In essence, the children’s trilogy titled “That Christmas” can be likened to a kid-friendly version of “Love Actually,” where we delve into the interconnected lives of characters in the fictional coastal town named Wellington-on-Sea, all striving to prevent holiday mishaps during Christmas.
Instead of the spooky vibe, you could opt to catch a glimpse of the initial trailer for “That Christmas” above, which sets a more festive mood this week.
The film that premiered as Christmas for the very first time last month was screened at the BFI London Film Festival, garnering a mix of positive and negative initial criticisms.
On Wednesday, December 4, when the movie becomes available on Netflix, you’ll have a chance to decide for yourself if the critics were merely grumpy like Ebenezer Scrooge in their reviews.
Under the guidance of director Simon Otto, the heartwarming film titled “That Christmas” boasts an illustrious British ensemble cast, including Jodie Whittaker, Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Bill Nighy, Lolly Adefope, Katherine Parkinson, Guz Khan and many others.
Additionally, the film includes appearances by Dermot O’Leary and radio host Jordan North portraying characters named Mr. Chop and Mr. Hack, respectively. Furthermore, it boasts an exclusive tune by Ed Sheeran entitled “Under the Tree.
Sheeran shared with Tudum that the setting of our song is incredibly moving, as it resonates deeply with numerous individuals during Christmas – a time when some are forced to celebrate without their loved ones, due to various circumstances.
Working alongside my elder brother on this project was truly unique and valuable since he’s my only sibling. It was incredibly rewarding to collaborate on a production that our kids could enjoy, featuring their uncle, set in the place where they reside.
That Christmas is released on Netflix on December 4.
