First trailer for It’s Always Sunny star’s new Netflix comedy
As a huge fan of coming-of-age comedies and a longtime admirer of Kaitlin Olson’s work on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” I couldn’t contain my excitement when I first heard about “Incoming.” The latest Netflix production, which is set to hit the streaming service on August 23, promises to be a hilarious and chaotic ride that takes us back to our own high school days.
A trailer for the Netflix comedic production titled “Incoming,” featuring Kaitlin Olson from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” has been released for public viewing.
Writers and producers Dave and John Chernin, known for their work on “It’s Always Sunny,” are behind this film as well. Joining them in the cast are Mason Thomes from “The Black Phone” and Bobby Cannavale, famously seen in “Ant-Man.”
In addition to Ellen Pompeo as Bardia Seiri in “Grey’s Anatomy,” Ramon Reed in “Just Roll with It,” and Raphael Alejandro in “Acapulco,” the cast includes Scott MacArthur, Isabella Ferreira, Ali Gallo, and Loren Gray.
The comedy will hit the streaming service on August 23.
“Netflix describes ‘Incoming’ as the account of a single night in the lives of a cluster of ninth-graders, the wild party they gatecrash, and the ensuing pandemonium.” Based on the trailer, this shindig appears to be quite the riot.
At the first high school party, the teens are accompanied as they navigate through, dealing with the confusion and self-doubt that arises from their social standing.
In the trailer’s concluding scene, there’s a hilarious instance where Loren Gray, a well-known singer and TikTok sensation, portrays a tipsy guest craving for a late-night Taco Bell run.
The Chernin brothers based it on a party thrown by their next-door neighbour when they were kids.
John recounted to Tudum how him and Dave used to sit by a window with the lights out, gazing into the chaos of the wildest high school party next door that we had ever witnessed in the backyard.
The Chernins were inspired by the popular ’80s teen movies like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and aimed to produce something relatable for today’s audience.
“Dave commented, ‘It’s been a long time since we last had a movie like this.’ He added, ‘There seemed to be one of these every generation. It was simply a light-hearted production that put laughter first, which I believe we craved deeply.'”
Incoming lands on Netflix on August 23.
