As a child of the ’90s and a lover of animated films, I was utterly captivated by the original How to Train Your Dragon trilogy. The magical bond between Hiccup and Toothless, the breathtaking visuals, and the heartwarming storyline were unparalleled. Now, as an adult who still cherishes those childhood memories, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that a live-action remake is on its way!
The first trailer for the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon has been released.
According to Cressida Cowell’s book, the movie revolves around a young Viking named Hiccup, who embarks on a journey with the objective of slaying a dragon to demonstrate his masculinity. (However, it’s important to note that Hiccup eventually develops an unusual friendship with the dragon instead, which is a significant departure from the traditional Viking narrative.)
Rather than encountering something else, he stumbles upon a wounded dragon called Toothless who has been trapped. Over time, he forms a bond with this dragon and teaches it tricks, intending to show his village that these legendary beasts are not as terrifying as they believe.
The film, which is being released by Universal Pictures, is set to premiere on June 13, 2025.

The exciting trailer sees young hero Hiccup (Mason Thames) learn about his destiny to become a dragon slayer.
As you wield that axe,” says his far-off father Stoick (Gerard Butler), the brave ruler of Berk Island, “you take us all with you.
“I can’t kill dragons,” Hiccup then confesses, with Stoick firmly replying: “But you will.”
In the course of Hiccup’s quest to slay a dragon, he unexpectedly encounters the vulnerable Toothless. However, his feelings for this creature soon transform from casual attachment.
He gently reassures the creature, saying, “Don’t worry, I mean no harm,” as he then tenderly touches Toothless’s snout.

Once again, Dean DeBlois, the writer-director behind the animated trilogy, is back at the helm, penning the script, guiding the direction, and this time taking on the role of producer for the latest addition to the franchise.
In the new version, actors like Nick Frost, Nico Parker, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, and Ruth Codd are part of the ensemble.
In the year 2010, the movie “How to Train Your Dragon” made its debut. Subsequently, two sequels were released – “How to Train Your Dragon 2” in 2014 and “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” in 2019.
The franchise proved incredibly popular among audiences, raking in approximately $1.6 billion globally and receiving four Academy Award nominations.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t wait to step into the realm of dreams when I catch the live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon” hitting the big screen on June 13, 2025!
