First trailer for EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley’s new movie with Hollyoaks stars
A first trailer has been unveiled for EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley’s upcoming movie.
The series titled “Departures” centers around Benji, portrayed by Lloyd Eyre-Morgan, who’s finding it hard to leave behind a harmful relationship. The narrative delves into alcoholism and self-destructive actions as Benji revisits the vacation spot he once shared with his ex, Jake, examining the lingering effects of their toxic past.
Initially, we see Benji and Jake parting ways, after which a sequence of recap clips unfolds to illustrate the intricate nature of their relationship. “That’s going beyond the limit, and that’s it – that’s the end,” Jake asserts forcefully.
Yet, there’s still more unfolding for the pair, as narrator Benji confesses: “I so wish that were the final act.
The trailer presents a mix of debates, romantic scenes, and wild parties featuring diverse personalities. “Sometimes you need to look back to find your way forward,” Benji explains, as he tackles his haunting past.
The show Departures boasts a variety of British soap opera actors, such as Stanley playing the role of Benji’s mother Janey; David Tag from Hollyoaks portraying Jake, Tyler Conti, Olly Rhodes depicting a younger Benji, and Isabelle Smith; in addition to Kimberly Hart-Simpson from Coronation Street and Liam Boyle from Emmerdale, who take on the character of Kieran.
Similar to a blend of ‘Shirley Valentine’ and an LGBTQ-themed ‘Trainspotting’, ‘Departures’ portrays the authentic feelings, laughter, and intricacies of a person’s journey towards resolution and self-discovery.
The movie showcases a clever humor, heartfelt narration, and straightforward candor, providing a contemporary, resonating perspective on love and grief.
A rough-around-the-edges comedy penned by Eyre-Morgan and co-directed with Neil Ely is set to premiere at the Manchester Film Festival on March 15, gracing the screens of the Great Northern Odeon cinema.
