First trailer for Disney’s live-action Snow White remake

As a seasoned gamer and Disney enthusiast who has grown up with the original animated classics, I must admit, I’m both excited and a tad apprehensive about the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White. Having witnessed the transformations of other beloved stories like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, I can’t help but wonder how they will breathe new life into such a timeless tale.

Disney has released the first trailer for its live-action remake of Snow White.

In a fresh take, one of Disney’s initial animated theatrical masterpieces is being reimagined. This time around, it’s under the direction of Marc Webb, known for the Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield. The casting includes Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot in the role of the Wicked Queen, who previously played Wonder Woman.

At the D23 Expo, a new trailer was unveiled that showcases brief glimpses of the tune ‘Whistle While You Work’, sung by Snow White amidst computer-generated dwarves. The clip then transforms into a thrilling movie teaser as the Wicked Queen inquires the Magic Mirror, “Who is the most beautiful one of all?”

Afterward, she metamorphoses into a wizened crone (though her visage is fleeting), plunges the apple into venom, and subsequently, Snow White encounters ominous trees that seem to be straight out of a nightmare in the woods.

As I watched the captivating finale, a deer emerged from the shadows, encompassed by my woodland companions – a breathtaking sight as color was restored to the scene. The trailer, in its entirety, brimmed with vivid hues that left an indelible impression on me. Even in the nocturnal forest sequences, Snow’s dress shimmered brightly, and the Queen’s throne room was a mesmerizing blend of purple and emerald, exuding an ominous regality.

Earlier, Zegler mentioned that the movie would rework Snow White with greater autonomy, stating: “The humor surrounding ours as a politically correct Snow White is not without basis – it was necessary.”

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that our modern take on this 85-year-old classic cartoon offers a breath of fresh air. Instead of waiting for her prince, our protagonist has a purposeful role that transcends the traditional ‘Someday My Prince Will Come’.

The movie finished shooting as early as June, but its release was postponed for a full year in 2023 because of the labor disputes happening in Hollywood at that time.

The Snow White remake will be released in cinemas on March 21, 2025.
