First trailer for Daisy Ridley’s new thriller Magpie

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for gripping thrillers and captivating performances, I can confidently say that the upcoming film “Magpie” has piqued my interest. Having followed Daisy Ridley’s career since her breakout role as Rey in Star Wars, I’m intrigued to see her take on a completely different character in this new thriller.

The first trailer for Daisy Ridley’s new thriller Magpie has dropped online ahead of its release.

The trailer opens with the Star Wars actor in a car, struggling to get her seatbelt on while a baby caries in the back. That’s already stressful enough, but then things get even more tense as we see the premise of the film unfold.

In the series “Star Trek: Discovery,” Ridley’s character Anette appears to be trapped in a marriage devoid of love with her spouse Ben, portrayed by Shazad Latif. However, when their offspring gets selected for a movie production, Alicia, known from “Revenge” and played by Matilda Lutz, begins capturing Ben’s attention, causing him to entertain romantic feelings.

As a devoted admirer, here’s my take: From her perspective, this situation seems ominous, and it’s all the encouragement Anette needs to spring into action. But just how far will she push the boundaries? Only time will reveal the answers.

It’s intriguing that Ridley Scott conceived the movie concept himself, and based on the critic reviews shown in the trailer, it appears he fully immerses himself in the role.

This movie serves as a sequel to another highly acclaimed film by Ridley Scott, titled “Young Woman and the Sea“, which is a biographical sports drama.

To depict actual US Olympian Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Ederle, Ridley underwent extensive open-water swimming training for several months. In an exclusive conversation with Digital Spy, she disclosed that, despite her hard work, she felt underprepared and anxious when it came to filming the swimming sequences.

In the future, Ridley Scott’s upcoming zombie film titled “We Bury the Dead” can be expected, and there’s also another project in development that continues her portrayal of the Star Wars character, Rey.

Magpie will be released on October 25 in the US, and in November in the UK and Ireland.
