First trailer for Barry Keoghan’s England-set drama

As a cinephile who has seen my fair share of coming-of-age films, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for Barry Keoghan’s new drama, “Bird”. The trailer alone is enough to pique my interest, with its raw and authentic portrayal of a young girl’s struggle for identity and belonging.

The first trailer for Barry Keoghan’s new England-set drama Bird has arrived.

In the forthcoming movie, we meet 12-year-old Bailey, portrayed by Nykiya Adams, who resides in a makeshift home in Kent alongside her father Bug (Keoghan) and sibling Hunter (Jason Buda).

Instead, due to Bug’s carelessness, Bailey finds herself drawn towards seeking “interest and excitement” elsewhere, which eventually brings her into contact with the enigmatic character Bird (portrayed by Franz Rogowski).

The trailer introduces us to Bailey and Bug, who finds a drug toad “that’s going to pay for everything”, something Bailey calls “another one of his crazy schemes that come to nothing”.

Eventually, due to her strained relationship with her father and the disorderly surroundings, Bailey found herself forming an unforeseen friendship with Bird, a new acquaintance she met along the way.

“You’re used to sorting it, aren’t you?” Bird tells her. “Taking care of things yourself.”

In a natural and easy-to-read manner: The film titled “Bird,” directed by Andrea Arnold of “American Honey” fame, is set to hit the screens in both UK and Irish cinemas on November 8th.

Earlier this year, the movie had its first showing at the Cannes Film Festival, opening to a remarkable 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, that initial high mark has dropped slightly and is currently holding steady at a commendable 75%.

In a poignant portrayal, director Andrea Arnold resonates with the theme of growing up as Nykiya Adams delivers a touching performance. By skillfully blending elements of fantasy and truth, Arnold creates an intensely captivating finale.

Previously this year, Keoghan disclosed that he declined an opportunity in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator 2” because of scheduling issues with “Bird.” At the moment, he stated: “It was about scheduling conflicts. I am a huge admirer of ‘Gladiator’ and its cast.

“It’s a shame you can’t do both. But that happens in this game. You can’t do both.”

Bird swoops into cinemas on November 8.
