First trailer for Anya Taylor-Joy’s new Apple TV+ thriller
As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a knack for suspenseful storylines and intriguing characters, I can hardly contain my excitement for Apple TV+’s upcoming thriller “The Gorge,” starring the captivating Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller. With its Valentine’s Day release next year, I’m eagerly anticipating a romantic-turned-survival tale that’s sure to keep me on the edge of my seat.
Apple TV+ unveiled the initial preview for Anya Taylor-Joy’s upcoming thriller titled “The Gorge,” while also setting its premiere date on their streaming platform for Valentine’s Day in the coming year.
Under the guidance of Scott Derrickson, director of “The Black Phone”, the film “The Gorge” features Anya Taylor-Joy portraying Drasa, a skilled sniper who supports Miles Teller’s character, Levi, as they both guard a peculiar gorge.
In the summary, two skilled agents are assigned to watchtowers on opposite ends of a large, top-secret canyon. Their mission is to safeguard the planet from an unidentified, ominous danger hidden deep within it.
From afar, they maintain a connection while remaining alert, guarding against an unknown adversary. When they uncover the catastrophic danger facing humanity, they must team up, showcasing not only their physical prowess but also their mental fortitude, to conceal the secret within the gorge before it’s too late.
According to the trailer, the thriller has Taylor-Joy, sporting a fresh hairstyle, embarking on a new assignment that she claims necessitates her staying in the shadows for a full year.
As I prepare for my upcoming mission, I’ll be stepping back from public view for at least a year, perhaps longer. A helicopter whisks me away now, bound for a secret operation in a yet-unrevealed destination.
Additionally, Sigourney Weaver is featured in the movie, with Zach Dean handling the screenplay, as hinted by her fleeting presence in the preview.
From the trailer, it’s clear that Drasa and Levi live in isolation, cut off from the outside world and prohibited from interacting directly with each other due to their separate towers. Their mission is to prevent whatever lies within the chasm, referred to as “the Gateway to Hell,” from escaping.
Yet, feelings begin to grow as they exchange messages through binocular signals and handwritten notes. Eventually, a catastrophe forces them to fall into the ravine, bringing them perilously close. However, the question remains: Will they both survive this ordeal?
The Gorge will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from February 14, 2025.
