First trailer for Angelina Jolie’s awards contender Maria
As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a soft spot for biographical dramas, especially those revolving around remarkable women, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Maria.” Angelina Jolie has always been a captivating actress, and her portrayal of Maria Callas promises to be an unforgettable performance.
Angelina Jolie might once again find herself in the running for awards with her upcoming film “Maria“, as we’ve just received the debut trailer for this compelling biopic.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my excitement about the film I recently learned about. Penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and masterfully directed by Pablo Larraín, this captivating production features Angelina Jolie portraying the legendary opera singer Maria Callas. The story unfolds in 1970s Paris, chronicling the final chapters of her extraordinary life.
In the initial, mostly silent trailer, Angelina Jolie’s performance as Maria Callas is not showcased through singing, but it does offer glimpses of the lavish settings we can expect in the film and hints at the heart-wrenching tale that lies ahead.
On January 10, 2025, the movie titled “Maria” will be shown in UK cinemas, distributed by Studiocanal. The UK premiere of this film will take place during the upcoming BFI London Film Festival on October 18.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the movie I’ve been eagerly awaiting is set to debut on Netflix in the U.S., following its grand world premiere in Venice. Before it graces our screens on Netflix, there will be a limited run in select U.S. theaters from November 27. After that, it will finally be available for streaming on December 11, right where I’ll be – glued to my screen!
Viewers in the UK and Ireland will need to be patient to stream “Maria” on Netflix, as its release is expected towards the end of 2025 due to a current agreement between Netflix and Studiocanal.
In the United States, with the successful theater release, I’m eligible for the Oscars and various other award ceremonies! What an exciting journey this has been!
It’s strongly anticipated that Jolie will receive her third Oscar nomination, with previous nods for “Girl, Interrupted” and “Changeling.” If she secures the win, it would mark her second Oscar victory and first as Best Actress; she previously won Best Supporting Actress for “Girl, Interrupted.
In the films “Jackie” and “Spencer,” directed by Larraín, the main actors received Oscar nominations following their performances.
It seems neither Natalie Portman nor Kristen Stewart took home an Oscar for their roles as Jackie Kennedy and Diana Spencer. Perhaps next year, Maria could be the one to break the trend by winning.
Movie titled Maria is set to hit UK theaters on January 10, 2025. Its US premiere will take place on Netflix on December 11.
