First Look: Harry Potter HBO Show Reveals Cast and Set Photo
The very first image from the HBO television adaptation of Harry Potter has been released, giving us a glimpse of how the young Harry Potter will appear in the upcoming series.
As the exciting production of this series kicks off, I’m thrilled to share with you the very first snapshot featuring yours truly, Dominic McLaughlin, in character as Potter. In this picture, you can see me, all dressed up as Potter, proudly displaying a production clapperboard. Don’t forget to take a peek at the image below!
Additionally, Warner Bros. provided details that the upcoming series is set to premiere in the year 2027, along with unveiling further cast details for the production.
Who else has joined the Harry Potter HBO cast?
Rory Wilmot is set to appear on the show as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson will take up the part of Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey has been cast as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser will portray Garrick Ollivander.
The Harry Potter series is referred to as a “long-term” endeavor, spanning approximately ten years. Each season is anticipated to cover one of J.K. Rowling’s renowned books in the series. The trio of characters – Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley – will be portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout respectively.
As a movie reviewer, I’d put it like this: “Joining our main trio in this magical journey is an impressive ensemble cast. John Lithgow brilliantly portrays Albus Dumbledore, while Janet McTeer brings Minerva McGonagall to life with her captivating performance. Paapa Essiedu delves into the complexities of Severus Snape, Nick Frost gives a warm and lovable Rubeus Hagrid, and Luke Thallon plays Quirinus Quirrell with intrigue. Paul Whitehouse, Katherine Parkinson, Lox Pratt, Johnny Flynn, Leo Earley, Alessia Leoni, Sienna Moosah, Bel Powley, Daniel Rigby, and Bertie Carvel round out the cast as Argus Filch, Molly Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy, Seamus Finnigan, Parvati Patil, Lavender Brown, Petunia Dursley, Vernon Dursley, and the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge respectively.
At this point, it’s not certain who else will join the cast, but there are whispers about possible additions, even mentioning a character like Voldemort. Further details about casting will likely be revealed at a later time.
The Emmy-winning writer Francesca Gardiner (from Killing Eve and Succession) is penning the script for the HBO adaptation. This series is overseen by Gardiner, Mark Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and veteran Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman as executive producers. Notably, Mylod, who has a history with HBO from Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, will direct multiple episodes as well. This production is a collaboration between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television.
