First look at Zendaya in long-awaited return of hit “twisted” drama Euphoria

HBO has released the first images of Zendaya as Rue for the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria. Fans can expect the show to return in the spring, about four years after the end of season two.

In the second season, Rue, played by Zendaya, continued to battle with drug addiction, which strained her relationships with loved ones who attempted to help her. She convinced a drug dealer named Laurie to let her sell drugs, but ended up owing money after her mother discovered and discarded a large supply.

In the season finale, the teen shared she successfully avoided drug use for the remainder of the school year. But a recent trailer suggests Rue will face new challenges in the next season.

A new YouTube video previews upcoming content from HBO in 2026, focusing on the characters from Euphoria as they adjust to life after high school. Although Rue seemed hopeful about the future at the end of the series, the video suggests she’s still struggling with past issues.

Looking back a few years after graduating, she admits things didn’t quite turn out as she’d hoped, shown alongside footage of her riding in a car being driven recklessly.

One scene shows Rue led into a dimly lit room and introduced to a threatening new character relaxing in a hot tub. It’s obvious they’ve never met, and Rue appears visibly anxious.

The next scene explains her worry: a new character fires a gun from a balcony. This raises the question of whether he has something to do with the money Rue already owes to Laurie.

The trailer also shows more of the main characters: Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) is rumored to start an OnlyFans account, we see a topless Nate (Jacob Elordi) dancing at home, and Jules (Hunter Schafer) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) both look incredibly fashionable.

Fans of the show Euphoria have been eagerly awaiting new episodes since 2022, and the new trailer offers a much-anticipated glimpse of what’s to come. The second season has been well-received, earning a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 113 reviews, with the Chicago Sun-Times calling it a thrilling and memorable experience.

Critics have praised the show’s intensity and artistry. The Detroit News described Euphoria as a uniquely compelling and unsettling experience, while Rolling Stone highlighted moments of exceptional insight and skillful filmmaking, calling it one of the best shows on television recently.

You can watch Euphoria on HBO and HBO Max in the United States. In the UK, it’s available on Sky Atlantic and through the Sky Go/NOW streaming services.
