First look at Until Dawn movie reveals smart twist to PlayStation game
A first look at the Until Dawn movie adaptation has revealed a smart twist on the original game.
This PlayStation game enables players to direct eight characters in a secluded mountain lodge setting, where the narrative can be influenced by player decisions. The fate of each character – whether they live or perish – depends on these critical choices made throughout the gameplay.
Incorporating this element into the film might have been challenging, but a recently released behind-the-scenes video offers an intriguing method for preserving the game’s history.

According to director David F Sandberg, the film features a plot device where events repeat and the characters get another chance. Each time they are resurrected, it feels as if they’ve entered a fresh horror setting. To stay alive, they must endure until morning.
The preview includes a few spooky snippets of the film, showcasing the characters’ arrival at the setting. Sandberg hints that the movie will maintain the same atmospheric feel as the game, while broadening the scope of the universe.
The preview comes ahead of a soon-to-be-released first trailer.
Last year, it was announced that an adaptation of the 2015 game is underway, with Gary Dauberman – known for his work on ‘The Nun’ – writing the script, which was originally penned by Blair Butler, creator of ‘The Invitation’.
In this rephrased version:
In the game “Until Dawn”, we find Ella Rubin from “The Chair”, Michael Cimino known for his role in “Love, Victor”, Ji-young Yoo famous for her work in “Freaky Tales”, Odessa A’zion, who was seen in “Hellraiser”, Maia Mitchell hailing from “The Artful Dodger”, and Peter Stormare, who originally starred in the “Until Dawn” video game.
Sandberg is widely recognized for his work on the films ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Annabelle: Creation’, along with ‘Shazam!’ and its follow-up ‘Shazam! Wrath of the Gods’.
In this example, I replaced “horrors” with “films”, as it provides a more general term that is easier to understand. Also, I used “its sequel” instead of “the sequel”, which is a bit more natural in conversation and writing.
Until Dawn is set to be released in the US on April 25.
