First look at The Split star’s new UK-set psychological thriller with “mystery at its heart”

The female-led thriller on Paramount+ titled “Little Disasters” has shared initial photos of the cast featuring Diane Kruger, Jo Joyner from “EastEnders,” and Ben Bailey-Smith who is known for “The Split.

This coming spring, a six-part drama series will be available on the streaming platform, based on the book with the same title by popular author Sarah Vaughan. She is also known for her hit novel “Anatomy of a Scandal”.

The story revolves around a circle of four women, long-time friends, who find themselves enrolled in the same prenatal course together.

The central enigma unfolds within the series as Jess (Kruger), a mother who typically stays at home, takes her infant daughter Betsy to the hospital due to an unexplained head wound.

Jess finds her idyllic life at risk as her friend Liz (Joyner), the emergency room physician in charge, takes a difficult stance by notifying child protective services.

Initially, a quick glance reveals Kruger’s character, Jess, running in a state of panic and appearing to argue with her husband Ed (portrayed by JJ Feild). In a separate scene, she is seen contemplating as her family sits together at a dining table.

Other images shows Liz at work and being comforted by her husband, Nick (Bailey-Smith).

As a fan, I find myself drawn into the unfathomable, high-strung scenario alongside Mel (Emily Taaffe) and Charlotte (Shelley Conn), two other friends of Jess and Liz. Their collective emotions seem to mirror each other’s insecurities, making for an intriguing dynamic that keeps me hooked.

The cast for the series is rounded out by Patrick Baladi and Stephen Campbell Moore.

Last year, when they first announced this show, both Kruger and I weighed in on how it tackles the unrealistic pressures on moms. It’s a topic that really resonates with me as a gamer.

According to Kruger, this show appears to present a tale that many can identify with, delving into the harsh criticism faced by mothers from society. The narrative beautifully portrays the delicate nature of one’s reputation, as we witness the swift downfall of Jessica’s seemingly ideal life.

Concerning Joyner, the previous star of EastEnders, expressed: “Liz finds herself in a situation where she must make an unimaginable decision, torn between her obligations as a doctor and allegiance to her friend.

I can’t wait to collaborate with this fantastic team, and to delve into the consequences of Liz’s choice.

The series “Little Disasters” will become available for streaming on Paramount+ this coming spring. The specific launch date is yet to be revealed at a later time.
