BBC Three has released the first images from the second season of its popular and award-winning comedy, Smoggie Queens. Joining the cast is Monica Dolan, a BAFTA-winning actress known for her roles in Sherwood and Mr Bates vs The Post Office, along with other new faces.
Dolan is joining a group of new faces, including Amalia Vitale and Freya Parker, along with two beloved Middlesbrough icons: broadcaster Jeff Stelling and football expert Chris Kamara.
All the main cast members are back for the new season. Written by Phil Dunning, an award-winning writer from Middlesbrough, the show features its familiar and beloved characters: Dunning plays the fiery Dickie, Mark Benton is the hilarious drag queen Mam, Alexandra Mardell returns as the confident Lucinda, Patsy Lowe is the endearing Sal, and Elijah Young plays Stewart, who is coming to terms with his sexuality.

Several familiar faces will be returning, including Charlotte Riley, Neil Grainger, Peter McPherson, Lauryn Redding, Michael Mather, Bill Fellows, Michael Hodgson, Steph McGovern, and Michelle Visage.
Okay, so the new episodes jump right back into the action where we left off last season. And honestly? It’s just as crazy as ever. Basically, total chaos – but that’s exactly what I expect and love!
What to Read Next
Dickie is looking for a new relationship after being single, and Mam is dealing with difficult memories. Sal is caught between two potential partners, Danni and Mel, while Lucinda is experiencing a setback in her relationship with Neil. Meanwhile, Stewart is happily starting a fresh and exciting phase of his life.
The story includes fun events like dates, debut parties, a male beauty contest, and even a real football game.

The first season of the show received good reviews. In particular, The Guardian described it as “adorably sweet,” praising its ability to capture a uniquely British sense of camp – a cheerfully rough-around-the-edges glamour, dry wit, comfortable naughtiness, and a wholehearted appreciation for things that are tacky, unpretentious, and popular.
According to the i Paper, the new BBC Three sitcom Smoggie Queens is refreshingly cheeky, bizarre, and incredibly funny. They say that even when a joke doesn’t quite land, the show’s fast pace and energy are still captivating.
Okay, so I just heard that season two of Smoggie Queens is dropping on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer this spring! If you haven’t checked it out yet, season one is already available to stream on BBC iPlayer – definitely worth a watch!
