As a gaming enthusiast taking a brief break from my virtual adventures, I can’t help but share the thrill of catching a sneak peek at some images straight from the upcoming movie set! These snaps show Colman and Cumberbatch’s characters basking in romantic bliss as they lock lips on a sandy shore and gaze lovingly into each other’s eyes while soaring through the skies aboard an airplane. But don’t let their tender moments fool you; it seems there’s a storm brewing beneath the surface, as the seeds of resentment are about to be sown.
In the third picture, we find Colman standing with his co-stars Ncuti Gatwa and Sunita Mani, who seem to share a role as café employees.
In addition to the cast, the movie features Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Jamie Demetriou of Stath Lets Flats. Joining them are Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Chao, and Belinda Bromilow.
The film titled “The Roses” is set to premiere in UK theatres on the 1st of September, after it was initially screened in US cinemas on the 29th of August.
In her recent chat with Vanity Fair, Colman expressed that she appreciates how the film showcases the progression of two deeply affectionate individuals subtly attempting, over time, to dismantle their relationship.
According to Cumberbatch, the movie serves as an allegory for two individuals who shared a profound love, but eventually developed an equally intense hatred towards one another, overlooking any chance of reconciliation in between.
A significant portion of it holds a striking resemblance: the challenges we face in expressing affection towards those we hold dearest, and the rapid deterioration that can occur if we fail to foster and sustain the bonds that anchor our family relationships.
The Roses releases in US cinemas on 29 August. In the UK, the film will be out on 1 September.
