The first official preview of the new Sherlock Holmes show, Young Sherlock, has been released, and we now know when it will premiere.
The Prime Video series explores the early life of the renowned detective (portrayed by Hero Fiennes Tiffin), and a new trailer reveals his adventurous and sometimes troublesome time as a student at Oxford.
The episode also shows a first encounter between Holmes and his future enemy, Moriarty (played by Dónal Finn), during a seemingly simple moment – trying on his famous hat. We also get a glimpse of Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
What to Read Next
The show is officially set to premiere on March 4th next year, so don’t forget to add it to your watchlist!
Guy Ritchie, the director behind the popular Sherlock Holmes films, is also directing Young Sherlock. The new movie promises the same cleverness and appeal as his previous work, but with a fresh and action-packed take on the classic character.

The show introduces the future detective as a troubled young man – someone who is honest and unpolished – just as he gets caught up in a murder investigation that could send him to jail.
The story begins with his very first investigation – a worldwide conspiracy that will change his life completely. Set in 1870s Oxford and taking him on adventures overseas, the series reveals the youthful, rebellious beginnings of the character who will eventually become the famous resident of Baker Street.
The show’s supporting cast includes Zine Tseng, known for 3 Body Problem, Joseph Fiennes from The Handmaid’s Tale, Natascha McElhone of Halo, and Max Irons, who starred in Condor.

Director Ritchie has hinted that the show, Young Sherlock, will present a fresh and exciting take on the famous detective, unlike anything audiences have seen before.
We’re going to explore this mysterious character, understand his motivations, and discover how he develops into the brilliant figure we admire.
Young Sherlock premieres on Prime Video on 4 March, 2026.
