First look at Netflix’s new Grey’s Anatomy-style drama – and it’s arriving soon
Netflix has released first-look images of upcoming medical drama Pulse.
The upcoming series, slated for release on the streaming platform on April 1, 2025, is generating ‘Grey’s Anatomy’-like comparisons due to its narrative elements such as hospital lockdown scenarios, surge of emergency cases, and a romantic involvement between a resident and the chief resident.
In this production titled “Pulse”, you’ll find actors like Willa Fitzgerald, who was prominent in the series “Reacher”, Justina Machado, known for her role in “The Horror Of Dolores Roach”, and Colin Woodell, recognized from the spin-off of “John Wick” named “The Continental”.
All three are seen in the new images teasing emergencies and drama aplenty.
In this scenario, Fitzgerald portrays Dr. Danny Simms, a character entangled in a complex romantic involvement with the Chief Resident, Dr. Xander Phillips, played by Woodell.
In a single image, they appear to share an intimate moment, whereas Dr. Natalie Cruz, renowned for her intellectual acumen and political astuteness, is depicted in another. As the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine, she skillfully manages both administrative duties and medical care.
The story, Pulse, unfolds within the bustling Level 1 Trauma Center of Miami, where it will challenge medical professionals as they brace for a storm that brings a surge of patients.
The summary hints that Third-Year Doctor, Dr. Danny Simms, is suddenly given a higher position due to the suspension of the much-loved Chief Resident, Dr. Xander Phillips.
In the midst of intensifying weather conditions and a surge of emergency cases, the hospital implements a lockdown. Amidst this, Danny and Xander are forced to collaborate, despite the revelation of their intricate and clandestine romantic past.
As a devoted fan, I find myself deeply empathizing with these dedicated doctors. They’re grappling with the aftermath of their personal turmoil, all while juggling professional struggles, under the relentless weight of life-or-death situations. For this closely bonded team of medical professionals, the challenge of saving lives regularly seems simpler than navigating their own complex existences.
Moreover, among the new actors joining the production are Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Jessy Yates, Chelsea Muirhead, and Daniela Nieves. These individuals can be spotted in some of the initial preview images as well.
The series known as “Pulse” consists of 10 installments and features a skilled cast, co-created by Zoe Robyn, the mastermind behind “The Equalizer.” In addition to her role as the showrunner, she also serves as an executive producer, with Carlton Cuse from “Lost” joining her in this capacity.
Pulse will be available to stream on Netflix from April 1.
