First look at Julia Garner in upcoming Rosemary's Baby prequel film Apartment 7A, premiering this fall

As a huge fan of “Rosemary’s Baby,” I’m beyond excited to delve deeper into the world of Ira Levin’s masterpiece with the upcoming Paramount+ original prequel film, “Apartment 7A.” Having grown up watching and re-watching the classic horror movie, I’ve always been intrigued by the enigmatic character of Terry Gionoffrio. The tragic figure who befriended Rosemary Woodhouse played by Julia Garner in this new production is a character that has left many questions unanswered in my mind.

I’m excited to share some insights about Terry Gionoffrio, a kind and resilient young woman played by Julia Garner, who befriended Rosemary Woodhouse in the classic 1968 film “Rosemary’s Baby,” based on Ira Levin’s acclaimed novel. In the upcoming Paramount+ original prequel series named “Apartment 7A,” Terry will take the limelight and reveal what transpired in her life before the chilling events of “Rosemary’s Baby.”

Instead of following other “Rosemary’s Baby” adaptations in altering Rosemary’s tale, “Apartment 7A” stands out by focusing on a secondary character from the initial story. The film suggests that Terry may not have taken her own life by jumping from the Castevet’s apartment as portrayed in the original 1968 movie. Instead, it raises the intriguing possibility that Minnie Castevet could have been involved in Terry’s demise, and “Apartment 7A” will uncover the truth behind her death.

What is the plot of Apartment 7A?

While living with the couple, she encounters a well-known Broadway producer named Jim Sturgess who proposes a fresh start for her. However, her experience in apartment 7A is filled with unsettling occurrences and peculiar events, causing her to ponder the price she’s prepared to pay for her aspirations.

The apartment located at 7A is helmed by director Natalie Erika James, known for her work on “Relic.” The film’s script was collaboratively written by Natalie, Skylar James, and Christian White.

Apartment 7A will include other ‘unexplored subjects’ from the 1968 film

Besides unveiling the initial images and premiere date for “Apartment 7A” on Paramount+, Vanity Fair also released a detailed article providing further information about the upcoming film.

In the movie, you’ve previously been introduced to Terry and the Castevets as characters. Additionally, we’ll encounter other intriguing figures from the initial film and Ira Levin’s novel. One such character is Mrs. Gardenia, portrayed by Tina Gray in the Paramount+ production. In “Rosemary’s Baby,” she was the former occupant of Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse’s apartment who passed away before they moved in. Her existence is merely hinted at in the beginning of the original film.

For Mrs. Gardenia, [you’ll] be able to see her in action when she’s really just a footnote at the start of Rosemary’s Baby.

James tells Vanity Fair

According to Vanity Fair’s account, Mrs. Gardenia wasn’t physically present in the movie, but Rosemary discovered a letter from her upon moving into their new home. In this note, the woman expressed remorse for her association with the coven.

As a seasoned film critic with a deep appreciation for classic horror movies, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest developments surrounding the production of the new adaptation of “Rosemary’s Baby.” Having watched Roman Polanski’s 1968 masterpiece countless times, I’ve grown fond of every detail, including the chilling laundry room scene that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats.
