Okay, so I just saw the first look at Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman in their new movie, and it looks intense! It’s called The Gallerist, directed by Cathy Yan, and it’s actually going to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2026. I’m a huge Sundance fan, and it’s happening in Park City, Utah, around late January. I’m already marking my calendar!
The new thriller is being called “wickedly fun” and features outstanding performances from a talented cast, according to the official description from Sundance.
Ahead of the Art Basel show, art gallery owner Polina Polinski (Natalie Portman) gives art influencer Dalton Hardberry (Zach Galifianakis) a preview of work by up-and-coming artist Stella Burgess (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).

Dalton wasn’t interested in the art gallery until a single artwork stood out and sparked intense competition within the art world.
Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega lead the cast of the new movie, which also features Charli XCX, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sterling K. Brown, and Daniel Brühl. A first look at Portman and Ortega filming an action scene has just been revealed.

Natalie Portman previously shared with Collider that she had a fantastic experience working on the project. She praised director Cathy Yan and described the cast as exceptionally talented, saying they were ‘an embarrassment of riches’.
“We had such a fun time. It’s a very funny art-world satire, I would say.”
Charli XCX will appear in three films premiering at Sundance, including The Gallerist. She also stars in The Moment, a documentary-style film where she portrays a fictionalized version of herself.
She’ll also be seen in I Want Your Sex, an erotic thriller starring Cooper Hoffman and Olivia Wilde.
Natalie Portman will next appear in the romantic comedy Good Sex, created by Lena Dunham, which is scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2027.
The series will feature her as a couples therapist navigating the New York dating world after ten years of unsuccessful relationships. Mark Ruffalo, Rashida Jones, and Meg Ryan, a beloved rom-com star, will also appear.
Jenna Ortega, known for her role in Wednesday, has just finished filming Ghostwriter, a fantasy movie directed by JJ Abrams. She stars alongside Glen Powell, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson.
She will also star in the lead role of Klara and the Sun, a science fiction film set in a dystopian future. The movie is directed by Taika Waititi and also features Amy Adams and Natasha Lyonne.
The film The Gallerist will debut at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, running from January 22nd to February 1st. A release date for movie theaters hasn’t been set yet.
