First look at Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar-Jones in new movie
As a devoted cinephile and literature enthusiast, I’m thrilled to my core by the forthcoming cinematic delights! The upcoming Toronto International Film Festival is shaping up to be an unparalleled extravaganza, with two highly anticipated films: “On Swift Horses” and “Oh, Canada.”
Actor Jacob Elordi, known for his role in ‘Euphoria,’ will be appearing alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones from ‘Normal People’ in a forthcoming drama that is scheduled to debut at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
The movie titled “On Swift Horses” is set to make its debut at the festival on September 7. A sneak peek of the film will be released as early as today, August 13.
In their upcoming roles, Elordi and Edgar-Jones will be joined by Will Poulter from “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and Diego Calva, who is known for his work in “Babylon.”
The film “Swift Horses” is adapted from the novel penned by Shannon Pufahl. According to the book’s summary, it revolves around the characters Muriel (played by Edgar-Jones) and Lee (portrayed by Elordi), who have recently married and Lee has just returned from serving in the Korean War.
After leaving her small-town home in Kansas for a humble abode in San Diego, Muriel finds herself restless and uneasy. The peace of their lives is shattered when the captivating younger sibling of Lee, Julius, a man with a penchant for gambling, unexpectedly shows up, harboring a concealed truth.
Once Julius departs towards Las Vegas, Muriel finds herself living a secretive existence and covertly visiting race tracks in order to grasp the techniques of the high-stakes gamblers.
Previously, Calva chatted with Variety regarding collaboration with Elordi, hinting at some passionate moments they shared on screen.
Calva expressed how fascinating it was collaborating with him, noting his intense passion for both photography and classic plays, particularly those by Tennessee Williams and Chekhov.
“He’s not the guy you maybe think he is. He’s such a cool actor. He’s just amazing. I feel very proud.
Having spent years in the film industry, I must say that the upcoming movie promises to be quite a spectacle. The scenes we’ve shot so far are nothing short of intense and captivating, with a level of heat that I haven’t experienced in a long time. But, as someone who has been around the block a few times, I can assure you it’s worth the wait. Trust me; this movie is going to be one for the books.
Meanwhile, Elordi also has another film premiering at TIFF – drama Oh, Canada.
Under the direction of Paul Schrader, the film titled “Oh, Canada” is based on Russell Banks’ novel “Foregone.” This movie portrays the closing chapters of Leonard Fife, a documentarian, played by Richard Gere who was known for his role in “Primal Fear.” Notably, Leonard Fife was a friend of Schrader until his passing in January 2023.
