First look at Freaky Friday 2 as release date is confirmed

As a gamer with a heart for nostalgia and a soft spot for Disney classics, I can’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store! The announcements of both “Freakier Friday” and the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” have sent waves of excitement coursing through my veins.

Disney unveiled an initial glimpse of the upcoming film, titled “Freaky Friday 2“, while also announcing the launch dates for the live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch“.

The highly anticipated follow-up to the beloved film starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, known as “Freakier Friday“, will be released on August 8, 2025. This is exactly 22 years (and two days) following the premiere of the original film.

The launch date was disclosed in a post on Disney’s Instagram page, which included a picture of Lohan and Curtis appearing shocked together, reminiscent of a well-known scene from the initial movie.

Additionally, similar faces from the initial movie are set to reappear, including Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. However, Nisha Ganatra has taken over directing duties from Mark Waters for the new series And Just Like That….

On a Freakish Friday, Tess Curtis and Anna Lohan find themselves in a strange situation where fate seems to repeat itself. They grapple with the numerous complications that arise when two households blend together.

The movie narrates the tale of a friendship that blossoms between a solitary young girl called Lilo and an extraterrestrial resembling a canine named Stitch, who was designed to cause chaos.

In a new take, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is helmed by its director Dean Fleischer Camp. The ensemble features debutant Maia Kealoha, comedy star Zach Galifianakis from The Hangover series, and Billy Magnussen, known for Game Night.

Several actors who were part of the initial animated series are coming back, with Chris Sanders, one of the directors, reprising his role as the voice for the lovable but naughty extraterrestrial character, Stitch.
