First look at Emma Mackey’s new British movie
Sex Education star Emma Mackey stars in a first look at her new movie Hot Milk.
In the forthcoming movie, Mackey plays the character Sofia, who sets off with her mother, Rose (Fiona Shaw from ‘Killing Eve’), to visit a enigmatic healer in a quaint Spanish coastal town.
The storyline proceeds: “Sofia becomes involved in a captivating romance with a mysterious woman named Ingrid (portrayed by the actress from ‘Old’, Vicky Krieps). However, frictions with her dominating mother jeopardize their delicate relationship.
In addition to Linus Roache as the protagonist, Vincent Perez from Shantaram and Patsy Ferran from Living are part of the cast for this movie adaptation that was inspired by Deborah Levy’s popular novel with the same title.
The Berlinale recently unveiled an initial snapshot of the upcoming movie titled “Hot Milk“. This film is scheduled to debut at the film festival in the coming month, but a specific UK release date has yet to be disclosed.
In the new scene, Sofia is gently held by Krieps’ character, suggesting that he could be her romantic partner.
In a notable first foray into directing, Rebecca Lenkiewicz – a lauded writer known for her work on the Polish-language film “Ida,” 2018’s “Collette,” and this year’s drama “She Said” featuring Carey Mulligan – has taken up the helm with “Hot Milk.
Apart from “Hot Milk,” Mackey’s upcoming films also include “Ella McCay,” a new project by James L. Brooks, which the “Barbie” actor will be starring in.
In the upcoming movie, Mackey is set to portray a youthful politician who embodies ideals, navigating personal family matters and a challenging professional world. As she gears up to assume the role previously held by her mentor as the state’s governor.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be working alongside an extraordinary ensemble in this project. Jamie Lee Curtis from the chilling ‘Halloween’, Woody Harrelson known for his versatile roles, Ayo Edebiri who stole our hearts in ‘The Bear’, Jack Lowden from ‘Slow Horses’, the legendary Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani and Spike Fearn will all be part of this exciting journey with me.
Hot Milk premieres at Berlinale next month, with a UK release date TBC.
