First look at “cosy crime drama” with Downton Abbey star – and there’s not long to wait

In a forthcoming series, Phyllis Logan from Downton Abbey is set to be the main character, promising a delight for fans who adore cozy crime mysteries.

A fresh sneak peek has been unveiled for the upcoming show, “Murder Most Puzzling,” which is based on the popular book series written by Parnell Hall, titled “The Puzzle Lady Mysteries.

The story unfolds with Logan, who is now working alongside Cora Felton, also known as the Puzzle Lady and a renowned crossword enthusiast, in her new role as a police consultant. When a mysterious homicide necessitates her unique puzzle-solving abilities, she steps in to help.

In the quiet market town of Bakerbury, it is essential that Cora’s skills be utilized when the local authorities are investigating their very first murder case. The unfortunate victim was discovered with a completed crossword puzzle nearby.

In the situation where their case seemed hopeless, they hesitated but ultimately sought out Cora Felton, a newcomer to Bakerbury who is known as the ‘Puzzle Lady’. The police, led by DCI Hooper, hoped that she could aid them in resolving Bakerbury’s first murder case.

However, it turns out that the quirky character named Cora isn’t as she presents herself. As she delves into a cold case that she believes could be linked, she stumbles upon a chilling revelation concerning another woman’s untimely demise. In doing so, Cora inadvertently places herself right in the line of fire of this killer. Such a position is precarious indeed.

Dominique Moloney, a seasoned writer in cozy crime genre, is responsible for drafting the series. She has previously penned episodes for shows like Father Brown and Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators.

Actress Logan, famous for her character Mrs Hughes on Downton Abbey, is joined by Charlotte Hope from Game of Thrones in the role of Sherry Carter, along with Alistair Brammer portraying Anton Grant, Adam Best as DCI Hooper, Nick Danan as DS Sam Brody, and Jack Weise as PC Danny Finley.

Completing the ensemble are Yasmin Seky portraying Becky Baidwan, Richard Croxford stepping into the role of Mayor Firth, Conor Sánchez taking on Jimmi Potter, and Amber Mendez-Martin embodying Katy Hooper.
