First Look at Charlie Heaton as Charles Shelby in ‘Peaky Blinders’ Sequel

Summary

  • Netflix and the BBC have released the first images of Charlie Heaton as Charles Shelby in the new, currently unnamed Peaky Blinders sequel.

  • The actor from Stranger Things will portray Tommy Shelby’s refined son. He’ll be joined by Jamie Bell, who is now playing Tommy’s older half-brother, Duke Shelby—a role previously held by Barry Keoghan.

  • This new six-part series takes place in the 1950s, about ten years after the end of World War II and following the recent spin-off film from Peaky Blinders, titled The Immortal Man.

The world of Peaky Blinders is continuing with a new series. After Cillian Murphy finished his portrayal of Tommy Shelby in the movie The Immortal Man, the story will go on with a new, as-yet-unnamed show. Netflix and the BBC have revealed the first look at Charlie Heaton, known for Stranger Things, who will play an older version of Charles Shelby in the next installment.

The new six-part series of Peaky Blinders, set in 1950s Birmingham as the city recovers from World War II, will shift its focus to Tommy Shelby’s sons. Recent photos show actor Finn Cole, who plays Michael Shelby, looking stylish in a suit fitting the period. He’ll be joined by Jamie Bell, who is taking over the role of Duke Shelby, Michael’s older and more hardened half-brother, previously played by Barry Keoghan.

The new series follows Charles Shelby, who is trying to leave behind his family’s history of violence and excess. After fighting in a war, he’s seeking a normal life and has cut off contact with his half-brother, Duke, and the Peaky Blinders gang. However, the show explores whether someone can truly escape their family and the life they once knew. This internal conflict – the desire for peace versus the pull of his family’s criminal underworld – will be central to the story.

The sequel series, from the creator of the original, Steven Knight, is currently being filmed in Birmingham. The cast is large and includes well-known actors like Jessica Brown Findlay (known for Silo), Lashana Lynch (known for The Day of the Jackal), and up-and-coming talent Lucy Karczewski, alongside Heaton and Bell.

Details about the story and supporting characters are still secret, but the confirmed cast and the show’s tough, 1950s atmosphere have created a lot of excitement. Although there’s no official premiere date yet, the Peaky Blinders sequel will first air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., before becoming available worldwide on Netflix.
