First look at Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey in rehearsals for new show
Actor Jonathan Bailey, known for his role in Bridgerton, has been spotted during preparations for his future theater performance in Richard II.
Last June, it became known that the actor, famous for portraying Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix series, will star as the main character in a Shakespearean play at London Bridge Theatre. His performance will take place from February to May.
As the opening night approaches on February 10th, the team is working diligently to get ready for their series of performances. Photos have surfaced showing Bailey engrossed in the script and also posing with the artistic staff.
Richard II is captivating, articulate, and humorously intelligent, yet his reign is marked by dishonesty, recklessness, and poor political judgment, leaving one to ponder the age-old question: how does one handle a leader who has a strong claim to power but seems determined to destroy the nation he governs?
As a devoted admirer, I’d rephrase that as follows: “In Shakespeare’s masterpiece, it’s the clash between two strikingly contemporary characters that captivates me. Richard, a ruler convinced of his divine mandate, and Henry Bullingbrook, a no-nonsense realist with legitimate power, are at the heart of this play.
Apart from Bailey, the cast for this production also features Royce Pierreson, Christopher Colquhoun, Olivia Popica, Amanda Root, Phoenix Di Sebastiani, Clive Wood, and Michael Simkins. Nicholas Hytner is the one directing the show.
As Bailey prepares to perform, you might recall that this actor portrayed Fiyero Tigelaar in the movie version of the popular Broadway musical “Wicked,” an experience that brought about an unexpected encounter with a unique animal from the set of “Bridgerton.
The actor shared that they had previously collaborated with the horse, who deserves special recognition. They had worked together on the show Bridgerton. Over time, they’ve established trust and a strong connection. The horse is exceptionally focused and reliable, making him an excellent scene partner. Given these qualities, I felt assured to give my best performance.
Richard the Second is set to make its debut on February 10th, while Wicked has already hit the big screens, and Bridgerton can be found streaming on Netflix.
