First look at Bridgerton and It’s a Sin stars’ new British period movie
As a longtime enthusiast of period dramas that delve into the lives of intriguing historical figures, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Madfabulous.” The cast alone is a veritable treasure trove of talent from some of my favorite shows like “Bridgerton,” “It’s a Sin,” and even an unexpected “Emily in Paris” appearance by Rupert Everett.
The captivating show titled “Madfabulous” – featuring Ruby Stokes from “Bridgerton” and Callum Scott Howells from “It’s a Sin” – has unveiled initial snapshots following the completion of filming for this historical production, which took place in Wales.
As a gamer, stepping into the shoes of a character, I find myself taking on the role of the French-born aristocrat, the fifth Marquess of Anglesey, Henry Paget, in this captivating period drama.
Known as the “Dancing Marquess,” Henry gained notoriety for challenging 19th-century social and gender conventions, and for recklessly spending his inherited wealth on extravagant living expenses.
In the Netflix series Bridgerton, Stokes, who was cast as Francesca in the initial two seasons, assumes the role of Henry’s close friend and romantic partner named Lily.
Initially released photographs provide an up-close view of the heartwarming relationship shared by Harry and Lily, along with showcasing Harry’s vibrant fashion sense.
When he was given the part of Henry in that remarkable tale about the man and his ideals back in June, Howells expressed how genuinely privileged he felt to be bringing that character to life.
“He is such a fascinating character; truly a rebel ahead of his time and has been inspiration to many artists throughout the years.
“I can’t wait to work with this great team to bring Henry to life on screen.”
In addition to Howell and Stokes, the film features Rupert Everett (recently known for his role in the unexpected appearance on “Emily in Paris”), Paul Rhys from Saltburn, Siobhán McSweeney of Derry Girls, Louis Hynes from The Great, and Roger Evans, who is also seen in House of the Dragon.
Completing the ensemble are Louise Brealey, Tom Rhys-Harries, Guillaume Gallienne, Steve Speirs, Kevin Eldon, and the renowned actor Ian Puleston-Davies, who was previously seen on Coronation Street.
Madfabulous is directed by Celyn Jones and written by Lisa Baker.
In simpler terms, the film is a wild, bold tribute to extravagance, connections, defiance, and selfless kindness as characters chase after affection and recognition. (Nadia Jaynes and Sean Marley’s description)
